Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic PR plans and campaigns to enhance the reputation and visibility of McKenzie Towne Council.
  • Manage and maintain positive relationships with media representatives, journalists, and influencers.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of media contacts and actively engage with them to secure coverage and positive publicity.
  • Craft engaging and persuasive PR copy for press releases, articles, speeches, and other communication materials.
  • Create and manage content for various communication channels, including the council's website, social media platforms, newsletters, and internal communications.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate events such as press conferences, community forums, and public outreach programs.
  • Monitor and analyze public opinion, media coverage, and industry trends to identify potential risks or opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and brand representation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on PR and communication strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging trends, and new technologies in PR and communication.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in public relations, corporate communication, or related roles.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful PR campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional copywriting and editing abilities.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts and key stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using various communication and PR tools, including media databases, monitoring software, and social media management platforms.
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problemsolving.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data, measure campaign effectiveness, and provide actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the public sector or working with government organizations.
  • Familiarity with local community engagement and outreach initiatives.
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies.
  • Previous experience in crisis management or handling sensitive issues.
