**The job**:

Bells of Steel is seeking a dynamic product development associate to push our product development process along, to help grow us from a $20MM company to a $50MM one, and eventually to a $100MM one. The role will start with taking over products-in-progress and owning the prompt completion of these projects without sacrificing the requirements put forth.

This role reports to the Product Manager, and will work closely with the two owners (CEO and COO) and our factory partners on certain projects.

**Summary**:
The Product Development Associate is responsible for directing the development of new products, from completed requirements gathering to incorporating customer feedback post-launch to optimize the product.

**Key Components**:

- Managing product development of A, B and C products from concept to testing to launch
- Market research on competitors and product reviews to manage and drive the requirements gathering process
- Pricing analysis of new and potential new products
- Working closely with the parts department to contribute to optimizing product packaging, manuals, spare parts plans
- Reviewing current product line to incorporate customer feedback and 3rd party reviews into new and improved versions
- Interfacing with marketing and ecommerce to support product launches
- Visiting key factories in China 1-2x per year, and communicating with the factories in the mornings and evenings (to line up with their time zone)
- Assessing initial samples
- Thoroughly testing samples for functionality and integration with existing products.
- Gathering and recording feedback from staff members on samples, and then working with the factories to make any fixes
- Running and participating in team workouts - physically testing all the products
- Working with marketing and the web team to ensure all functionality and features of the products are called out in marketing and web materials.
- Outlining the content of and occasionally being featured in how-to, assembly and overview videos of new products

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Ability to interpret assembly and parts drawings
- Ability to gather and record information between ~100 different projects
- Actively participating in the fitness industry, specifically strength training (Knowledge of current influencers and above-average fitness product knowledge)
- Strong understanding of fitness equipment trends in home gyms and commercial settings
- Organized, quick but thorough communication skills.
- Performance driven.
- Experience in manufacturing, trades or other mechanical fields is an asset but not a requirement.
- Familiarity with Solidworks or other 3D modeling software is an asset but not a requirement.

**Work Environment and Benefits**
- Full Time, Permanent
- Monday to Friday: 7am - 3:30pm or 10am to 6:30pm (_with ability to work flex time to accommodate meetings with other time zones when necessary.)_
- Every other Friday off
- Overtime pay available
- Working from our HQ in Calgary 2 - 4x per week
