The Mail & Printing Services Supervisor provides strategic leadership in developing and maintaining service standards for the Print and Mail Branch within guidelines and policies established by the Director of Fleet and Facility Management. Core duties of the position include planning and budgeting, contract management, equipment management, human resource management, month end billing management and purchasing of supplies & materials required to ensure quality services are provided.

**This posting is for 1 permanent full-time position**

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide recommendations for changes to services or equipment based on forecasted service requirements, operational costs of changes in customer requirements
- Provide forecasts for services required and ensure the service offerings are current with technologies and client expectations
- Develop and maintain service standards that support the delivery of print, mail and courier services to all Strathcona County departments
- Manage contract for Strathcona County’s fleet of printers/multifunction devices, Daily Route Courier Service and Canada post contract
- Verify contractor performance through service monitoring to verify compliance with contract specifications
- Responsible for the training and supervision of printing and mail services staff including, interviewing, recommending staff development, job training, performance evaluations, leave coverage and OH&S standards
- Responsible for ensuring staff are cross trained and are effectively able to do all jobs that are required in the print and mail services branch
- Provide effective scheduling of workflow to ensure timely completion of printing assignments to meet corporate departmental deadlines
- Ensure corporations fleet of output devised are adequately sized for the volume of activity required and placed appropriately within the work space for department requirements
- Develop and maintain processes for efficient delivery of mail and courier services including assembly of materials, envelope stuffing and postage processing
- Develop courier routes an contracts for the distribution and collection of corporate mail
- Responsible for the security of outgoing and incoming mail and courier material
- Monitor monthly variance reports and ensure the branch operates within the approved budgets

**Skills and Abilities**
- Knowledge and understanding of the printing and mail industry and the processes used
- Leadership skills to motivate, encourage and mentor staff in a challenging and dynamic work environment
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills and ability to deal with multiple and changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and have the initiative to identify business opportunities and to develop and implement effective solutions

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of ten years direct experience working in the print and copy industry
- Minimum of five years experience operating in a supervisor capacity
- Technical training in printing technology, pre-press, press and bindery an asset
- Experience following accounting procedures and experience with accounting for budgeting, purchasing, estimating/quoting, invoicing and month end billing procedure
- Demonstrated customer service experience

**Conditions of Employment**
- Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
