We are looking for a **Field Service Assistant**. The Field Service Assistant (FSA) position participates in ongoing daily waste management processing operations as well as, construction and de-commissioning, waste management projects, excavation as well as ,but not limited to, decommissioning equipment/system etc. On a limited basis the FSA may also cut grass, perform snow removal, perform brushing and whipper sniping on required access roads and fence lines around all WMO facilities. They will participate in waste emplacements and waste pick-ups

**What will you be doing**
Maintenance
- Clean and move material and debris.
- Digging/backfilling trenches, ditches and shoveling asphalt. Removal of soil and waste

materials, and snow.
- Brush out fence lines and cut down trees with chain saw that need to be removed from

roads to support decommissioning activities.
- Materials handling.
- Operate a variety of hand tools, including drills, chain saws, cement saws and other tools.
- Load and unload waste bins as part of normal operations; move supplies and equipment as

Required, including the physical ability to lift heavy objects safely.
- Operate bag monitor to perform waste clearance activities.
- Team Work
- Work with scaffolds, lift (genie lifts, fork lifts), and ladders.
- Participate in all material and waste segregation and recycling as directed.
- Perform set up and tear down of work site.
- When required - assist in preparing foundations/forms.
- Preparation of required documentation and records management for waste collection.
- Displays a high standard of safety at all times.
- Maintains a safe work environment and performs daily housekeeping activities in the facility

and processing yard.
- Perform related work as required

**What we are looking for**
- Someone who has energy coupled with a high level of creative thinking and the smarts to back it up
- Must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Good verbal and technical writing skills.
- Possession of a valid Ontario general driver’s license.
- With successful completion of training the FSA supports waste processing operations, supports hazardous work (e.g., asbestos handling/abatement and chemical handling).
- Knowledge in the use of personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE&C).
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Must be familiar with the operation of applicable equipment.
- Must be familiar with buildings and areas across the site.
- Must be willing to undertake and complete additional training and certifications appropriate to the position responsibilities.
- Just be able to utilize tools and procedures as required, plan own work and make minor decisions.
- Must have the ability to cope with heights and confined spaces.
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel and represent the company both on and off site as needed.
- Must be responsible for accurate record keeping where applicable.
- Must be physically fit.
- Must hold a valid driver’s licence and ability to drive on site as needed.
- Must be able to identify non-conforming waste.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Written and verbal communication skills to be able to work in multi-trade groups and communicate with CNL staff across a broad range of disciplines.

**Location**:

- This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River location, which will be the designated workplace. CNL may require you to travel from time to time, as necessary.
