- Providing training and development to Industrial Hygiene Technicians in compliance with IH Tech role developmental training requirements.
- Providing IH leadership oversight of work to ensure it is in compliance with IH obligations and work specific documents and procedures.
- Providing IH support to the project by maintaining a visible presence to the field performing site visits to the entire project.
- Assisting in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the IH programs in the field assisting project teams and contractors as needed through coaching, mentoring, and relationship building.
- Reviewing and being familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
- Staying updated and inform the project management team and contractors of applicable changed legislative matters that could impact the project.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of OSH improvement plans to protect employees, contractors, visitors and the community.
- Proactively recognizing and encouraging positive workplace IH practices, and compliance to program and legislative requirements by project delivery personnel and contractors.
- Completing compliance monitoring on IH related project activities against CNL and contractor specific programs, plans and procedural requirements through formal and informal oversight inspection and auditing. Completing in-field observations to identify and follow up on non-compliance, areas for improvement and other such gaps related applicable laws, regulations, contract commitments and CNL internal corporate requirements.
- Providing expertise, support and assistance on the development, review, implementation and monitoring of task and project specific IH programs, work-plans, risk registers, and management system components.
- Providing IH SME support to the project by maintaining a visible presence to the field performing site visits to the entire project.
- Fostering and promoting the reporting of hazards and pause/stop-work scenarios where appropriate. Promote safety culture excellence by being a role model and setting the safety standard on site.
- Collaboratively coaching, mentoring and interacting with colleagues, CNL project team members, site superintendents, supervisors, contractors, and other parties involved in work activities to help deliver the safe execution of work.
- Providing timely customer service with credible and expert response to support requests.
- Documenting observations pertaining to their work oversight activities including entering/transcribing oversight information in CNL’s various recordkeeping and information management systems according to established requirements.
- Supporting CNL’s IH program through maintenance of worker exposure inventories, maintain basic instrument calibration needs and supply inventories, perform basic monitoring for worker exposures to occupational safety and industrial hygiene hazards, performer hearing testing, scheduling medical baselines, or other tasks as assigned and in collaboration with CNL’s Industrial Hygiene team.
- Performing physical, biological and chemical hazard assessments in ERM and ensure compliance with relevant procedures, programs, standards and/or regulations.
- Performing IH related field sampling and testing of physical, biological and chemical stressors including but not limited to: asbestos, silica, lead, mercury, mould, noise, non-ionizing radiation, and extreme temperature.
- Recommending, implementing and monitoring required engineering controls, work practice, personal protective equipment and respirators to eliminate or reduce physical, biological and chemical exposures with the support and direction of ERM Certified Industrial Hygienist/Director HSSE&Q.
- Performing Confined Space Initial Hazard Assessments/Confined Space Entry Surveys and ensure surveys comply with the relevant analytical and interpretation documentation.
- Arranging and/or performing compressor and breathing air quality surveys (direct reading instruments and analytical techniques), and ventilation surveys including fume hood testing.
- Providing the Certified Industrial Hygienist with IH monitoring data, work plans, and reports for interpretation or in order to access necessary controls and take further action.
- Providing additional support to ERM facilities on IH related matters as required under the direction of the ERM CIH/Director ERM OSH.
