Material Planner

Responsible for developing material plans that meet customer needs, optimizes capacity and efficiency, minimizing raw materials, work in process, and inventory levels.
**Essential Functions**
- Own the Material Planning Process through the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) tool to ensure that material supply meets production needs and advise on any potential issues
- Run ad hoc short term MRP scenarios as needed in order to support last minute changes to schedule and advise of feasibility of requested change.
- Monitor and actively manage raw material (ingredients and packaging) days of supply implementing strategies to reduce inventory to optimal levels while increasing customer service.
- Create requisitions in SAP for raw materials/packaging provided by the customer.
- Review the raw materials purchase profile periodically to ensure PO accuracy and MRP effectiveness.
- Place all required purchase order (POs) and follow up with vendors to confirm delivery timing, quantity and pricing to ensure the production schedule is supported.
- Monitor the purchase order schedule and follow up with vendors on delivery timing and quantities to ensure the production schedule is supported.
- Monitor raw material conversions/discontinuation (phase-in/phase-outs) to ensure complete depletion and successful transitions.
- Advise the Supply Chain Manager with any material expiration risk and potential mitigating actions to avoid material write-off.
- Support or lead specific Supply Chain projects as directed
- All other duties as assigned
**Health and Safety**
- Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting / handling procedures
- Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required.
- Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your Lead hand / Supervisor.
- Report any damages of property and machinery to your Lead hand / Supervisor.
- Ensure you comply with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/or laws that govern “workers” responsibilities in the workplace (covered during orientation - section 28 of the OHSA i.e. “Green Book”) and Comply with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs
**Job Specifications**
- College Diploma preferably in Supply Chain or Inventory Management
- APICS Qualifications - Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) or working towards certification.
- Prior experience working in supply chain planning/scheduling.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Previous experience working with an ERP system.
- Exhibits strong communication skills and has ability to work as part of a team.
- Extremely analytical and resourceful
