**Coordinator, Undergraduate Research Initiative**:
The Research Acceleration & Strategic Initiatives Office (RASI) advances the university goals of research excellence by supporting the university research community in the incubation, development and submission of research grants, infrastructure projects, and personnel and training awards. RASI supports the development a robust research culture through the Undergraduate Research Initiative, implementing programs and services to provide meaningful research, scholarly or artistic experiences to undergraduate students at the University of Saskatchewan.

**Primary Purpose**: Launched in 2013, the Undergraduate Research Initiative (UGR) focuses on providing and enhancing research and discovery experiences to undergraduate students through a four-part strategy - course-based experiences, assistantships, knowledge transfer or dissemination activities, and research skill development. Working within the Research Acceleration and Strategic Initiatives unit, this position provides develops and implements programs and services ensuring a breadth of quality undergraduate research experiences.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Director, Research Acceleration and Strategic Initiatives, this position will work closely with faculty, the Library-University Learning Centre, Jane and Ron Graham Centre for SoTL and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching & Learning, college leadership teams, external partners and students.

Establishing and maintaining professional relationships is critical to support exceptional collaboration necessary to providing a breadth of quality programming. Strong problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position. The incumbent is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgement. The incumbent is required to work independently with mínimal supervision but also as part a team environment. The incumbent will supervise student staff.

**Accountabilities**:

- Provide leadership, strategic planning and project management to ensure the goals of the initiative are met, including undertaking regular monitoring and assessment, and modifying as needed;
- Coordinate with partnering offices, college leadership teams, staff, and students to expand and enhance the quality and quantity of undergraduate research opportunities;
- Encourage innovative curriculum design and support faculty development aimed at embedding undergraduate research experiences, particularly into the first-year curriculum.
- Implement and enhance a culture of recognition and celebration of the accomplishments of faculty and students engaged in undergraduate research experiences through awards and/or special events;
- Build and support a community of undergraduate student researchers, providing education, resources, and professional development tools, workshops, and events, to support the development of research skills;
- Create and sustain effective working relationships and partnerships in academic units to introduce and enhance undergraduate research;
- Supervise and manage temporary and casual staff, student employees, and student volunteers;
- Develop and direct the communications and engagement strategy to increase the profile of undergraduate research including developing and maintaining mechanisms to promote opportunities, celebrate champions, highlight the benefits to members of the university community, and engage meaningfully with undergraduate students and faculty.
- Act as a resource on best practices in undergraduate research nationally and internationally by providing expert advice and recommendations in undergraduate research programming and ensuring USask programming remains at the cutting edge.

**Education**: A relevant university degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

**Experience**: A minimum 5 years of related experience in a post-secondary setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; and knowledge of the post-secondary education sector, undergraduate research pedagogy and research environment. An understanding of both the post-secondary research and student services environments is considered an asset. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in experiential learning, university-level teaching, research and/or curriculum design.
