Reporting to the Site Administrator, the Clinical Safety Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for leading/facilitating the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality improvement activities related, but not limited to service, patient & staff safety and accreditation standards. The CSC also supports work relating to strategic and corporate initiatives. This includes acting as the site champion, education support and auditor for a number of clinical safety initiatives including but not limited to Wound management, Medication Reconciliation, Hand Hygiene, Hazard Assessments, Accreditation, Emergency Preparedness and Employee Engagement. The CSC will also act as the site Infection Practice and Control Champion which will require them to monitor infections rates, promote and educate staff on the best Infection Prevention and Control practices and liaise with their designated Infection Control Practitioner (ICP). The CSC will work collaboratively with the Site Administrator, management team and frontline staff to assess operational issues and opportunities, identify options and discussing the pros and cons of each option, assist the management team to select the best workable option then working to ensure successful implementation. The CSC also works with the site management team to ensure the successful implementation of corporate initiatives as outlined by the Corporate Lead, Operational Improvement for Rural Health Services.

**Required Qualifications**:
Related post-secondary degree (e.g. Nursing, Health Administration, Practical Nursing, Paramedical diploma) plus 7-9 years clinical health care experience. Active license with professional organization (if appropriate). Valid Driver’s License.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Understanding of the role and importance of clinical safety and infection control and practice within health care. A working knowledge and understanding of change management principles and quality improvement processes (such as Lean methodologies). Understanding the role and importance of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Emergency Disaster Management (EDM) and Accreditation Canada in the healthcare environment. Ability to implement, evaluate and provide ongoing monitoring support for site clinical safety initiatives. Strong project coordination, public speaking, facilitation and interpersonal skills required, with the ability to conduct effective presentations and keep multiple initiatives on track. Ability to problem solve, think critically and develop action plans to ensure successful implementation of clinical safety initiatives.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficient with computer programs in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet. Ability to work under pressure and with tight timelines. Conflict resolution skills: ability to handle stressful situation.
