**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Development within the Business Development - Electricity department, the Project Manager - Environmental and Municipal Approvals will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and responsible for securing environmental and municipal approvals for new electricity project development, from project conception to start of operations.

In this role, the individual is a key contributor who will manage external service providers and work closely with other groups and leads from Asset Management, Operations, Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain and other internal/external stakeholders. The Project Manager - Environmental and Municipal Approvals will provide strong knowledge of environmental and municipal approval processes, project management, organizational, and communication skills.

**Responsibilities**

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead and coordinate the environmental and municipal approval process for new project development, from project conception to start of operations
- Create and maintain environmental and municipal permitting plans
- Coordinate or direct the work of external consultants and contractors
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with environmental regulatory agencies such as Provincial & Federal Agencies and local Conservation Authorities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local Municipal planning and approval staff
- Liaise and negotiate with regulatory agencies to obtain and influence conditions of routine permits and approvals, regulations, and licenses
- Keep abreast of environmental legislation and ensure work is conducted in accordance with applicable legal requirements, corporate policies related to environmental management and approved procedures and work practices
- Lead and coordinate consultations involving the public and local Indigenous communities
- Manage, prepare and/coordinate environmental data and reports for submittal to local, provincial, and federal regulatory agencies
- Work with internal stakeholders, including Health, Safety & Environment, Plant Managers, Project Managers, Human Resources and other Atura Staff to ensure company goals are adequately communicated and properly implemented
- Support the implementation and maintenance of a Health, Safety & Environment managed system and Contractor Management Plan
- Identify, measure, monitor, and mitigate environmental risks and liabilities associated with Atura Power’s assets; performing integrated risk assessments to manage environmental issues

**Education/Experience**
- In depth knowledge of Provincial, Federal, and local Environmental Regulations
- Minimum 8 years of combined applicable academic training, certification, and related work experience (certification or accreditation in an environmental or scientific discipline)
- An accredited Bachelor’s or Masters of Science or Arts degree in an environmental science, planning, engineering, or related curriculum
- Experience related to obtaining Environmental & Municipal approvals for new developments
- Experience related to obtaining Environmental & Municipal approvals for new electricity projects is considered an asset
- Successfully complete a security clearance/criminal record check
