Job Title: Machine Operator (Trenching and Backfilling)

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Operator to join our team. As a Machine Operator specializing in trenching for drain pipes, your primary responsibility will be to operate heavy machinery, including an excavator, bobcat, hammer, and compactor. Your expertise in handling these machines will be crucial in ensuring the successful completion of various construction projects involving drain pipe installation and maintenance.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate heavy machinery, including an excavator, bobcat, hammer, and compactor, to perform trenching and backfilling tasks as per project requirements.
- Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints to determine the exact location and depth of trenches.
- Use the excavator to efficiently and accurately excavate trenches for drain pipes, considering any obstacles or utilities present in the work area.
- Utilize the bobcat to backfill trenches with precision, ensuring proper compaction and stability of the installed drain pipes.
- Use the hammer attachment to break up hard shale and other challenging materials when necessary.
- Ensure the proper compaction of backfilled trenches using the compactor machine, promoting stability and durability of the installed drain pipes.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on the machinery, including inspection of fuel, oil, and other fluid levels, and report any mechanical issues to the supervisor.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, maintaining a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other team members, such as pipe installers and laborers, to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.
- Monitor and maintain the inventory of necessary tools, equipment, and supplies needed for trenching and backfilling operations.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including hours worked, materials used, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in machinery, and safety regulations related to trenching and backfilling operations.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Machine Operator, preferably with experience in trenching and backfilling for drain pipes. However, if you do not have specific experience in pipe trenching but are willing to learn, you can start with us.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in the safe and efficient operation of machinery used in trenching and backfilling.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and troubleshooting of heavy machinery.

**Salary**: $65.00-$72.00 per hour
