**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Online Technology, the incumbent supervises the day to day operations of the educational technology team within the Digital Learning group. This principally means supervising the work associated with enterprise educational technology portfolio, including a variety of sophisticated educational technology tools like the university’s learning management system, a media management platform, webconferencing tools, and other tools that support teaching and learning.

The incumbent maintains oversight on the TLS ticket intake system for educational technology support, and helps ensure distribution, follow-up and service levels are maintained as work is
distributed and completed. Service oversight includes recording and evaluating metrics on volume, response times, and resolution satisfaction. The incumbent makes recommendations based on service metrics.

The incumbent responds to inquiries and requests from clients (principally from Carleton’s teaching and learning community) and directs those to appropriate team members. The Supervisor supports the assignment of tasks and projects to the appropriate team members, reviews and checks that work is completed appropriately, and helps ensure workloads are appropriate.

The Supervisor supports the interface between Carleton’s educational technology service providers, particularly when it relates to client and administrative support - this includes ensuring that vendors and Carleton teams work together to ensure that faculty, students and staff receive the required support to effectively use educational technology.

The incumbent works closely with the Manager, Online Technology, makes recommendations for new tools, and helps guide the tool integration into Carleton University systems.

The incumbent has both pedagogical and technological knowledge relating to educational technologies. They have excellent problem solving and communication skills and the ability to effectively supervise and guide a team of employees.

- Design and Development
- Creates LMS course sites appropriate for the instructional and learning outcomes.
- Structures content based on educational research, instructional design practices and instructor input.
- Identifies whether the core online learning tool set (LMS) is suitable to meet learning outcomes or whether the tool set must be enhanced with other educational technologies (critical thinking).
- Develops, selects, modifies or creates materials, such as quizzes, discussion board, videos, tutorials.
- Implementation and Coordination
- Plans, manages, and organizes projects (project management.)
- Conducts needs analysis to help determine requirements.
- Promotes and initiates collaboration (i.e. ITS, library, Registar, instructors, HR, EHS).
- Evaluates initiatives (select instruments, methodology, collect and analyze data).
- Relationship building with support providers regarding potential system issues.
- Communication/Training
- Consults with instructors and learners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Initiates collaboration (i.e. ITS, library, instructors, HR, EHS, and SASC).
- Develops documentation and end-user training materials.
- Evaluates and reports on activities relating to communication initiatives.
- Computing/Web Application skills
- Configures administrative setting within the learning management systems and other educational technologies. Requires a very high degree of familiarity.
- Understanding of HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, java script.
- Microsoft Office 365, Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia (or similar), Jira, etc.
- Intermediate image editing and graphic design skills.
- Customer-facing skills
- Experience in working in a university environment, across multiple departments and faculties.
- Experience delivering training sessions.
- Development of documentation, and end-user training materials.
- Highly professional, service and solution oriented.

**Other Necessary Skills**:

- Effective organizational skills and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, as well as good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, tact and discretion are essential.
- Ability to work under pressure and to remain focused.
- Adaptability and attention to detail will be the key to this position, as well as the ability to work in a team environment
