Operations Manager
ONroute is a Canadian operated company that provides a clean, safe & friendly environment at our 23 travel centres along the busy 401 and 400 highways in Ontario. We are open 24/7/365, proudly serve over 40 million customers each year and partner with great brands in the quick service food & retail industry. What you may not know is that we are a “start-up” with over 2000 employees. In May 2019, ONroute was sold and we are in the process of carving out the business from the previous parent and creating a stand-alone Canadian company. This is an exciting time and a great opportunity for the right person to join our team as an Operations Manager.
**Summary**:
The Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the General Manager in operating assigned brands. This position is responsible for day-to-day supervision of staff members, assigning work to both management and non-management associates, monitoring store level operation performance, coaching and developing employees, and performing all other responsibilities as directed by their manager. This is position reports to the General Manager.
**Essential Functions**:
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of Plaza Staff within a defined individual or group of restaurants, or stores
- Assigns work tasks and activities, prepares schedules, and ensures that all shifts are covered
- Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable brand standards, all procedures and protocols to maximize brand
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of Provincial and local sanitary, and health and safety standards, and all procedures and protocols to comply with the law
- Prepares daily orders, ensures units are stocked with appropriate levels of product and coaches Shift Supervisors and Assistant Managers on order procedures
- Conducts and coordinates on-the-job training and ensures all employees receive basic skills training to perform their jobs
- Uses judgment and discretion to resolve less routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
- Supports the General Manager in developing and implementing creative strategies to increase revenue
- Monitors progress towards unit goals
- Consistently provides direct reports and/or indirect reports with support, coaching and encouragement necessary to achieve business goals
- Utilizes associate’s strengths and provides ongoing feedback that reflects on progress against individual development goals and business goals
- Develops and implements plans that will motivate and recognize direct reports and/or indirect reports for their performance.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
- Requires 3-5 or more years of experience as a supervisor or manager in high volume Food and Beverage or Merchandise operations or other related management experience
- Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills and the ability to multi-task
- Demonstrates knowledge of ONroute policies and product, service, quality, equipment and operations standards
- Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with individuals
