**Position Summary**

The Canadian Sport Institute Pacific is in search of a temporary full-time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to be based at the CSI Pacific Whistler campus. The incumbent can expect a dynamic work environment, with possible domestic and international travel for training camps and competitions. Reporting to the Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Lead, this position will provide multi-sport strength & conditioning support and coverage.

**Responsibilities**:

- Evaluating and prioritizing fitness components necessary to achieve optimal performance levels
- Developing evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for specific athletes
- Consulting and collaborating with sport medicine professionals to recondition athletes after an injury, providing rehabilitation programs as appropriate and being a key contributor in return-to-play decisions
- Supervising sport-specific exercises, exercise sequences, sets, repetitions and recovery periods for assigned athletes, and coaching athletes on correct exercise techniques, safety measures, and other methods to maximize the value of training sessions
- Tracking data to review with coaches and athletes and providing progress reports in collaboration with sport physiologists
- Conducting warm-ups, mobility sessions, strength sessions, as well as physical conditioning exercises in training camp and competition settings as required
- Participating on multi-disciplinary teams such as the Integrated Support Team (IST) to plan, review and strategize on how to increase sport performance as a whole or for individuals
- Coordinating of testing for centralized and decentralized athletes within partner programs
- Maintaining awareness of the latest developments in strength and conditioning techniques and technology through conferences, seminars and self-directed reading
- Provide coverage for other CSI Pacific S&C coaches when required and as appropriate
- Actively participating in CSI Pacific team events, meetings, and professional development opportunities as well as regular liaison with colleagues in other sport institutes, universities, and jurisdictions
- M. Sc in Kinesiology or related field
- Less than 3 years of experience working in an applied sport science environment
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association or an international equivalent
- Olympic Weightlifting coaching certification
- Working towards Sport Scientist Canada HP Certification
- Background as a coach and/or athlete is preferred
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with sport performance laboratory including use of force plates and a variety of testing protocols
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other databases (Smartabase, Kinduct, TrainingPeaks etc)
- Data Management and analysis Skills
- Good team building skills and the ability to be flexible and adjust to changing priorities.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check
- The ability to participate in national and international team travel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of independence and initiative
- Valid Driver's License
- English-French bilingualism is an asset
