Job Summary
As UBC's MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) expands and evolves in its approach to educational delivery across the province, it is essential that learners within the Program have access to experiences and training environments where they can engage in practical skills-development in collaboration with partners who are representative of those community members the students will serve in clinical practice.
The MD Undergraduate Program Provincial Patient Programs portfolio supports the implementation of simulation curriculum that enables learners to develop and practice skills critical for their future work as medical practitioners. The cases that students encounter throughout the medical program in clinical skills sessions and examination environments are created with a nuanced lens, in collaboration with clinical faculty and administrative professionals who are responsible for curating standardized simulation and assessment environments where Standardized Patients (SPs) portray the case deliverables.
The MD Undergraduate Program Case Writer (PCW) is responsible for the review, adaptation and creation of case materials for Patient Programs, in consultation with clinical faculty and the MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) Provincial Patient Programs Manager. At a central provincial level, this position is responsible for the maintenance and development of simulated learning experience case-related materials, in support of teaching, curriculum delivery, and assessment for the MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP).
The PCW liaises with MDUP Course Directors, Program Managers, and staff and faculty across UBC's four program delivery sites: Island Medical Program (Victoria), Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program, Southern Medical Program (Kelowna) and at the Northern Medical Program (Prince George).
Organizational Status
The PCW reports to the Provincial Patient Programs Manager.

Together with its University and Health Authority partners, the Faculty delivers innovative programs and conducts research in the areas of health and life sciences. Faculty, staff and trainees are located at university campuses, clinical academic campuses in hospital settings and other regionally based centers across the province.
