BCIT’s **Learning and Teaching Centre** is seeking a **temporary, full-time (1.0 **FTE**) AV Equipment Coordinator Technician**. This position is responsible for providing a wide range of audiovisual and related IT technical support services for BCIT’s main and satellite campuses. Duties include staging of special events, installation, trouble-shooting and maintenance of BCIT’s install base of AV equipment including; multimedia projectors, analog and digital audio and video equipment, laptop computers/mobile computer carts and AV control systems, as well as, demonstration of equipment operation, remote system monitoring and playing a functional role in securing AV assets. This position is also responsible for coordinating the annual capital AV equipment rollout which includes maintaining and updating the asset inventory, initiating and tracking purchase requisitions and maintenance records, and mentoring auxiliary staff with regards to circulation and rollout duties.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Customer Service/Booking**:
- Provides timely and effective customer service to faculty, staff, and students operating the AV front service desk as needed, handling reservations and checkout of AV equipment using hard copy and/ or software systems.
- Performs inventory checks to facilitate the circulation process.
**Customer Service/Technical**:
- Responds to a wide variety of audiovisual requests, inquiries, and service calls from faculty, staff, and students throughout the various campuses. Examples include:
- Data/overhead projector malfunctions.
- Laptop/projector/display and control system issues.
- Technical problems with microphones, camcorders, document cameras, control systems, ‘clickers’ (CPS hardware and/ or software), televisions, etc.
- Performs client needs assessments, and provides demonstrations or instructions for clients as required.
- Ensures all equipment is in good operating order prior to the client taking possession of the equipment.
- May assist in delivery and set-up of equipment.
- Advises clients on use of AV/IT technology and system best practices.
- Performs a check of equipment, operating systems and files for any errors, malfunctions, service problems and missing items upon return.
- Diagnoses equipment problems and determines best means for repair.
- Coordinates authorized repairs by preparing paper work and following up with Purchasing or vendors/ suppliers.
- Reconciles and tracks status of purchase requisitions and standing orders in Banner.
- Enters equipment and service data into Cherwell/Archibus or other inventory systems and generates reports as required.
- Maintains service records, parts inventory, files and reports as appropriate.
- Prepares job aids for equipment operation and demonstrates operation of media production equipment to clients.
- Monitors and handles cell phone calls to facilitate ad hoc trouble-shooting assignments.
- Facilitates the entry of inventory data and work orders via mobile device, laptop or manually to keep data current.
- Liaises with other institute departments and vendors as needed.
**Customer Service/Evenings and Weekends**:
As the assigned AV technician supporting part-time studies during weekday late afternoons/evenings and/ or Saturday:
- Acts as the main contact for AV Services with potential for a flexible or modified schedule.
**Rollout Coordinator Duties**:
- Coordinates the allocation of the AV capital rollout budget including; preparing draft proposals, monitoring and reconciling approved budget, initiating purchase requisitions, and preparing status reports.
- Coordinates the rollout project including assigning tasks to AV technicians, developing the implementation schedule, setting and achieving milestones and escalating issues as required.
- Liaises with BCIT end users to determine long range AV needs; this includes conducting life cycle analysis of current equipment and determining priorities for replacement or upgrade.
- Conducts market research and analysis of new equipment in accordance with BCIT standards and industry trends.
- In conjunction with the Purchasing department, participates in the tendering process for selecting of new vendors.
- Interacts with ITS to ensure AV equipment is compatible with standard computer equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining a secure room containing new AV assets; coordinates flow of these assets through various stages of receiving, engraving and dissemination across all BCIT campuses.
- Maintains AV inventory using Cherwell or similar management system.
- Mentors, provides guidance and assigns tasks to auxiliary help with regards to rollout duties, inventory and installations.
- Provides Manager and Supervisor with regular updates on current status of rollout budget, equipment installs, problems, etc.
