Role and Responsibilities

The role that we are proposing:
More specifically:

- Determine commodity classifications (e.g., tariff classifications, regulations and duty rates) for import/export of goods.
- Develop and execute internal and external transportation partnerships.
- Ensure synchronization of information/material flow within the department.
- Ensure that the necessary requirements are obtained to carry out the shipment with our approved carriers.
- Obtain quotes from at least 3 carriers for shipment of simulation products to ensure competitive service level.
- Negotiate freight rates with domestic and international carriers, to ensure shipment of goods is completed within budget/schedule and in accordance with established requirements.
- Prepare documents for national and international shipping.
- Provide shipping/training instructions to other departments as requested.
- Interface with customs for international shipments. Resolve late delivery issues based on discussions with customs authorities.
- Communicate weight and shipping costs to the right stakeholders.
- Analyse shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other documents to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods needed to meet shipping and receiving schedules, based on knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
- Oversee shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of shipments.
- Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and seal doors of loaded trucks.
- Prepare bills of lading (Bill of Lading).
- Order all shipping materials.
- Reconcile freight invoices with the finance department.
- CFT (dangerous goods) certification and prepare dangerous goods documentation.
- Research and obtain bids and transport quotes, report results.
- Coordinate day-to-day logistics activities required to transport products by commercial air/sea freight, international land, domestic and cross-border.
- Coordinate outbound freight through external/3PL warehouses.
- 24/7 AOG Helpdesk.
- Be a reference (SME) for the logistics team regarding tools, processes and logistics operations.
- Technical Program Transportation Logistics or equivalent.
- At least five years of relevant experience or training in the field.
- Good analytical skills.
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and to deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different groups, colleagues, and internal clients.
- Be able to answer questions and present information to the various stakeholders in the process.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to perform duties well in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and meet deadlines independently.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to define problems, gather information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Bilingualism in French and English is required.
