**The Position**

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is an integral member of the maintenance department and is responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of the founders hall, student residences and all ancillary buildings to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty & staff and visitors. The maintenance technician also responds to most emergency situations alone or in concert with the maintenance supervisor pertaining to the buildings and grounds including all infrastructure necessary to keep the physical plant operating in a safe manner for all stakeholders.

**The main responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include**:
**Repair and Maintenance**
- Timely troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of all buildings on campus (excluding the dome and fieldhouse) including but not limited to installation, repair and finishing (including paint) of drywall;
- interior/exterior doors, frames and hardware; windows; structural steel and wood
framing;
- finish carpentry, trim and repairs; cabinetry including measure and ordering and
order confirmation;
- minor flooring and wall installation and repair including ceramic and porcelain tile,
carpet and carpet tile repair; vinyl flooring; all base trim; including subfloor where
required
- masonry and concrete installation, including forming, footings, foundations, for
fencing, signs, poles, lamp standards, and small auxiliary structures;
- roofing repair and installation including flat roofs and shingles;
- plumbing installation and repair, including toilets, sinks, water heaters, other
fixtures, etc.;
- light commercial installations including suspended t-bar ceilings and acoustic tiles;
- light electrical including replacement of fluorescent bulbs, troubleshooting LED
fixtures, replacement of batteries (ranging from heavy-duty for emergency lights,
fire alarm systems, to basic consumer batteries, (9- volt, double and triple A, and C
and D batteries);
- replacement of HVAC roof-top unit and dorm furnace filters, troubleshooting
rooftop units, dorm furnace and AC units, etc.
- Machinery and tool maintenance and repair;
- Plow truck and landscape equipment operation and maintenance;
- Office equipment installation and repair;
- Minor locksmithing including core repair and replacement, lockset malfunction troubleshooting;
- Willing to stay late if in the middle of an urgent task; respond to after-hours emergency calls (depending on severity and back-up); _the frequency of this is greatly variable_
- Prioritizing, planning and scheduling the required repairs and maintenance work under the direction of the maintenance supervisor or designate. The maintenance technician has the authority to set direction within the work assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
