**Your opportunity**:
**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Planning and implementing networks on which the departmental teaching, research, and administrative activities function
- Analyzing and installing networking equipment
- Developing and implementing contingency plans for network related software and/or hardware failures
- Developing network access protocols including firewall protection and wireless connectivity

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years relevant experience administering IT networks, systems, and security within an administrative and research focused environment.
- Experience installing and maintaining systems running Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
- Experience with network system administration, e.g., Network Attached Storage (NAS) management server.
- Demonstrated ability to advise and provide recommendations and guidance on planning, implementing and maintaining both IT and research infrastructure.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align IT service management initiatives with overall department strategy; strong problem solving and time management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Strong knowledge of architecture, security, operations, functionality and best practices in systems administration for Windows and Linux client and server technologies.
- Experience navigating complex technical systems with the ability to develop workaround solutions for technical problems to resolve underlying issues in a timely fashion, and prevent future occurrences using automation; ability to plan and perform implementations with mínimal service impacts and to solve complex technical and logístical problems
- Excellent technical skills with networking to ensure safe and fast migration and back-up of data.
- Proven ability to elicit cooperation from a diverse range of sources, including staff, faculty, and management at all levels within the faculty, excellent organizational skills for ensuring efficient and effective networking of research and administrative systems
- Strong oral and writing communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to others with limited technical background.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to liaise with faculty and staff members to understand the priorities of the department and subsequently develop and implement short
- and long-term plans for new or enhanced IT and research infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative manner in a large department as well as within a matrix organization and broader institutional policies and contacts; demonstrated ability to develop IT local practice and polices on cybersecurity and best practices for access and use of IT and research assets.
