**Organization Details**:
The Kamloops Food Policy Council is looking for an individual to support our organization with local gleaning and harvesting in our Gleaning Abundance Program. This is a part-time seasonal position that will require 20 hours of work per week for 6 months.

**Job Summary**:
The Gleaning Abundance Program (GAP) is a public produce and gleaning program serving the Kamloops community. GAP provides educational, volunteer, economic and food-sharing opportunities. The program annually recruits volunteers to participate in gleaning and distributes fresh produce to community partner organizations. The Gleaning Abundance Coordinator plays a pivotal role in expanding GAP's contribution to KFPC’s vision and values and alignment with our other programs (Butler Urban Farm, The Stir Regional Food Hub and Community Seed Library). The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations of the GAP program, including recruiting and coordinating volunteers, recruiting and coordinating tree, garden and farm owners, and building strong relationships with project partners and the wider community. Working collaboratively with the KFPC team, the Coordinator assists in creating project and evaluation plans, adjusting program goals to align with community needs, and managing the day-to-day program expenses.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Planning, Facilitation and Coordination_
- Assist in creating key program goals, work plans and evaluation plans to bolster the ability of the GAP to advance the KFPC vision and values and meet emerging community needs. This is done collaboratively with the KFPC team
- Lead the coordination of the GAP program, including managing tree owner and volunteer databases, communicating with tree owners and volunteers, supervising harvests, and coordinating donations of produce to community partner organizations
- Lead day to day operations of the KFPC van with support from the Distribution Manager
- Communicate with the Kitchen Coordinator about harvest quantities and dates for food processing and volunteer scheduling
- Coordinate and facilitate GAP Committee meetings with the support of the Food Sovereignty Coordinator and Organizational Leadership Coordinator
- Assist in training and supervision of seasonal workers and volunteers
- Assist the KFPC Finance and Admin lead with budgeting and financial planning
- Lead day to day management of GAP expenses with support from the KFPC Finance and Admin Lead
- Community Outreach, Engagement, Education, and Development_
- Assist the Food Sovereignty Coordinator in facilitating educational opportunities for GAP and BUF volunteers and community members to enhance their knowledge of fruit tree pruning and care, harvesting and preservation
- Provide educational presentations about the GAP to community partner organizations
- Publicly represent the KFPC and its programs at community events
- Evaluation and Reporting_
- Perform regular data entry of GAP metrics such as volume of produce harvested
- Assist in creating end-of-season reports with key lessons learned and progress towards evaluation metrics
- Schedule regular check-ins with other KFPC team members; identify and communicate to the team when and how help and support is needed
- Prepare monthly board reports
- Contribute to the development of transition plans for the following season, including identifying dedicated volunteers who could potentially fill future GAP Coordinator or Assistant roles to ensure project continuity

**Relationships and Supervision**:

- The coordinator will peer report to the KFPC Finance and Admin Lead
- The coordinator will work collaboratively with the Food Sovereignty Coordinator and BUF Coordinator, offering support and input where necessary
- The coordinator will work closely with other members of the KFPC team, particularly the Organizational Leadership Coordinator, Kitchen Coordinator, Food Hub Manager and Distribution Manager, as well as community partner organizations
- The coordinator will collaborate with and delegate tasks to seasonal workers and volunteers.

**Work Environment**:

- The position is part-time (20 hours per week) and the coordinator may work within a flexible averaging agreement;
- A significant amount of work will take place at harvest locations around the Kamloops region. Office space will be provided at the KFPC office, however, the coordinator may work from a home office location if they prefer.
