**QA Compliance Specialist**

**Position type: 18 month contract**

**Location: Brampton, ON**

**Job Purpose**
The QA Compliance Specialist is experienced and skilled in thequality and regulatory field, with a focus on improvement of processes in these areas to reduce risk corporately. The position includes in-depth knowledge about Quality Management Systems and Federal Regulatory Requirements at both a Food (including Pet Food), Pharma, and Industrial level including the management of all elements of a Food Safety Program (HACCP) and the API program.

Responsible for developing the companies ISO and RD (Responsible Distribution) policies and procedures. Assist in the development of Food Safety policies and procedures. Maintain all documents that pertain to the Quality Management System. Assist all aspects of the companies Health, Safety and Environmental program. Promote, develop and maintain an effective OHS system to eliminate injuries, occupational illnesses and other accidental losses. Manage the internal audit program.

**Duties and responsibilities**
Supports Management by providing guidance, direction and interpretation of quality standards and systems, Health and Safety Laws and regulations.
Develop, revise, implement company Quality and Health & Safety policies and procedures to ensure that the company maintains its ISO, RDC, GMP, AIB and HACCPcertifications.Train staff on quality and health & safety policies and procedures and ensure that training sign-offs are completed.Ensure that the electronic document database for current documentation is maintained and up-to-date.
Monitor the distribution of controlled copies at various locations.
Coordinate external and internal audits to ISO and RDC standards.(Participate in the process during the audits at all locations.Ensures that corrective and preventative actions are implemented.Develop internal audit schedules to ensure compliance to relevant standards.
Assist with product releases and maintenance of the Health Canada license for active pharmaceutical ingredients. (API’s)
Provide back-up support to write company SDS’ and Labels using the TECIS system, and ensure that the labels correctly reflect requirements under WHMIS and Kosher requirements.
Collect waste manifests for 75 and 99 Summerlea Road, and maintain the records according to the MOE regulations.
Write Standard Operating Procedures as needed
Manage the batch records for blends, send samples out for testing, and create CofAs with the results.
Assist in logging of customer change controls.
Coordinate all outside laboratory testing for Operations, Marketing/Sales, and R&D, and maintain an ongoing log of samples sent and costing.
Ensure full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Report all hazards to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment is maintained.
Other duties as assigned.
Participate in the Health and Safety Committees (JHSC, Management & Operations) and Emergency Response Teams.Ensure committees are established and trained.Ensure that recommendations are brought forward for consideration.Ensure that the Emergency Response plan is updated as required and ensure that employees are appropriately trained.Participate and ensure that regular workplace inspections are carried out.
Assist Managers with accident, incident, and near miss investigations and root cause analysis are completed and reported. Ensure documentation is complete. Ensure that corrective actions agreed upon are implemented in a timely manner.Assist with company reporting requirements to WSIB, CSST and the Ministry of Labour.
Update and continuously improve Emergency Response Contingency Plans for our facilities and transportation emergency requirements to address foreseeable incidents.
Design and deliver new employee health and safety orientation program.
Focus on continuous improvement initiatives, keep abreast of changes in legislation relative to health, safety and the environment and participate in training and development programs as agreed upon.
Ensure full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Report all hazards to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment is maintained.
Maintain quality and food safety for area of responsibility and according to IMCD food safety and quality policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Competencies**
Highly customer focused, proactive and results oriented person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications include:
Minimum 6-10 years directly related experience.
Completed Degree/Diploma in Health and Safety and/or Quality Assurance required.
Strong organizational skills, ability to plan, prioritize work and meet deadlines, attention to detail and process.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to work successfully in a fast paced, changing environment with little direct supervision.
