**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an **HR Specialist - Corporate Diversity & Inclusion**. This position is responsible for providing advice and expertise related to Diversity and Inclusion within The City of Red Deer (The City). Working closely with the Human Resources team, the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist will be responsible for creating and implementing plans and programs to promote diversity within The City. A significant part of the role is to enhance employee understanding on diversity and inclusion matters. This position serves to support The City’s commitment to the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities by educating employees on various aspects of diversity, supporting departments in their work to be more inclusive, and actively working to support alignment of our internal practices, policies and procedures to support our Diversity and Inclusion Vision: “The City of Red Deer is a vibrant, healthy and diverse organization that supports a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone feels safe and can fully participate in community life.”
- Post-secondary education or certification in human resources, diversity and inclusion or related fields.
- Supplemental training or education in diversity and inclusion an asset.
- Practical experience designing and/or implementing diversity and inclusion programs preferred
- A commitment to anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion and truth and reconciliation.
- Background in community engagement and facilitation.
- Demonstrated experience in developing diversity and inclusion initiatives and training.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to drive and influence change at all levels.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and trends in diversity and inclusion, including familiarity with key concepts (e.g. cultural competence, unconscious bias, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, challenging and politically charged and sensitive environment.
- Demonstrated highly developed collaboration, partnership and alliance building skills and an established capacity to engage in and facilitate focused conversations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a professional team.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of The City and relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to The City of Red Deer’s Cornerstone Values.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including Alberta Human Rights.

Exempt
**Remuneration**:
$42.26 to $52.82 per hour ($41,362 to $51,697 annually)
**Hours of Work**:
37.5 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, as scheduled - some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
