**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Prevention of Family Violence and Abuse Branch, of the Preventive Family Services Division, the Director provides leadership, direction and oversight to the provincial response to a diverse number of government priorities, including family violence and sexual violence, and other related programs and strategic initiatives.
- The Director will be working in coordination with the executive team, government of Alberta partners, non-profit organizations, associations, academics, community, staff and persons with lived experience to focus on prevention strategies to address family violence and sexual violence.
- The Director is accountable for associated government frameworks and action plans at various stages of development, including implementation, monitoring and measurement. This includes government, ministry and cross-ministry initiatives that develop provincial and community capacity to deliver and monitor a coordinated and collaborative response - ranging from prevention and protection, to outreach and follow-up, to family violence, sexual violence. These programs have a significant impact on Albertans and have substantial public accountability.
- The Director will be responsible for a comprehensive review of grant and contracted programs, outcomes' design and provide provincial oversight and leadership to the grant administration program. The program includes family violence, women’s shelters. sexual violence, and family violence prevention. The Director will be working with cross-ministry leads and stakeholders to complete review of multiple grant programs and implement.
- The Director leads a team of professionals performing varied and specialized work relating to grant coordination, service delivery design, training, public awareness and education, stakeholder engagement, and other community initiatives.
- The Director is key liaison with the Association of Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services and the Alberta Council of Women Shelters and other funded family violence organizations.
- The Director also provides expert advice and recommendations to the Executive Management team on a wide range of issues, requiring the interpretation of legislation, complex problem solving, and the ability to interact effectively with senior levels of government (municipal, provincial and federal) and other external stakeholders and organizations. The Director works in collaboration with the Executive Director and peer Directors on cross-government and intergovernmental initiatives.
- The Director also provides leadership to the Division in the absence of the Executive Director. The Director is guided by Alberta Public Services' values of respect, accountability, integrity, and excellence.
- Key anticipated activities of the Director:

- Complete a comprehensive review of all grants and contracts to develop a grant program(s) designed around accountability, red tape reduction, and service delivery outcomes; incorporating evidence-based practices, primary prevention-based outcomes, trauma informed practices and lived experience.
- Develop and implement polices and standard operating procedures and ensuring monitoring and accountabilities of the administration of the programs.
- Develop and implement a financial framework of accountability for grant programs and contracts.
- Provide leadership, direction and guidance to a newly redesigned team of professional staff to ensure accountabilities, change management, staff performance and excellence, to support competency development and to support the Executive Director and Branch team to meet the operational and strategic needs of the Branch and Division and contribute to the Ministry Business Plan.
