**Job Overview**:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as the First Nations, Métis, Inuit Strategic Lead at Cowichan PCN. As the Strategic Lead, you will play a pivotal role in advancing initiatives that support the health and well-being of Indigenous communities within the Cowichan region.
**Qualifications**:

- **Strategic orientation**: Ability to link the long-range vision of self-determination to daily work, and to consider furthering the goals of FN, Métis, and Inuit peoples in a way that meets the collective interest.

- **Empowering others**:Capacity to accommodate when people require information, knowledge, support and opportunities to be self-determined, based upon the individual or community's level of acceptance towards moving forward.
**Experience & Training**:
- In-depth experience working with and for FN, Métis, or Inuit people at a community and in a leadership capacity.
- Extensive understanding and knowledge of FN/Métis/Inuit health issues (including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual), cultural practices, and historical context.
- Extensive experience and excellence in writing, including briefings, memos, reports, work plans, project plans, and meeting minutes.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, community development, primary care, population health, and health promotion will be considered an asset.
- A level of experience, training and education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is considered an asset, though other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
**Responsibilities**:
- Working as a member of the PCN Strategic Team and in collaboration with First Nations/Métis/Inuit communities and agencies to support defining Nation-based or other Indigenous approaches to care and promote capacity building as requested;
- Engaging with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit community members, service providers, clinic managers, Health Directors, and others to 1) support increasing awareness and understanding of primary care access and delivery; 2) reflect on local needs and solutions from their perspectives; and, 3) elevate challenges, solutions, stories and insights (with permission) to the PCN First Nations/Métis/Inuit Advisory and PCN Strategic Team;
- Being present, learning from Elders, ensuring strong relationships, learning local traditions and protocols (as appropriate), communicating consistently, following-up, and following-through;
- Providing wisdom into the development and growth of the PCN through personal experiences and guidance from local Elders and leaders;
- Supporting Indigenous patients, families and community by recognizing the impacts of colonization and advocating for health provider relationships that are trauma informed, patient/family centered and promote culturally safe engagements;
- Managing, planning, and facilitating meetings and events, and managing all secretariat functions related to the PCN First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Advisory Group;
- Facilitating initiatives or managing projects associated with primary care service delivery to the FN/Métis/Inuit people;
- Collaborating, engaging, and managing relationships across multiple partners to optimize the Cowichan PCN’s approach to local primary care, including participating in community and networking meetings, as determined appropriate and relevant;
- Maintaining a history of the engagement and decisions made and holding this in a way that provides a foundation for this work that can inform future decisions, processes, and roadmaps.
- Supporting the PCN Allied Health Care team and Primary Care Providers to nurture, guide and support understanding between clients, families and care providers;
- Collaborating with the Director of Finance and the Director of Strategic Priorities to develop fiscally sound budgets and financial reports; preparing regular and ad hoc reports;
