Position Summary

Hours of Work: 8:30 - 4:30 Monday to Friday
Reporting to: Child and Family Services Manager
Department: Child and Family Services
čɛpθtən is the word to describe Auntie or Uncle in the Tla'amin Language. In collaboration with the Child & Family Services Team, the čɛpθtən House Coordinator manages, operates and coordinates stays for families in a respite home situation. The respite home provides a private, safe place for families and provides emotional support and life skills development as needed by individual families.
Key Responsibilities
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla'amin policies, standards, practices and procedures as directed by the Child and Family Services Manager. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, employees and general matters of the Nation.
- Respite Care Program_ _
- Coordinate the čɛpθtən House calendar for all family/youth stays
- Ensure that privacy for families who are staying at čɛpθtən House is respected and protected
- Build and maintain productive and healthy working relationships with staff and programming both inside and outside of the Nation
- Assist families with the move in and move out procedures and ensure that čɛpθtən House remains in good working condition between stays for the families
- Ensure that all Tla'amin policies and procedures are executed and maintained
- Provide assistance to family's staying at čɛpθtən House such as, but not limited to, emotional support and life skills development as needed by the family
- Connect families with relevant supports as well as liaise as needed
- Keep updated case files, including but not limited to Incident Reports, Near Miss Reports and case notes and other required information
- Keep updated and accurate statistics on family stays
- Day Programming_ _
- Coordinate and help execute public day programming that help develop healthy Tla'amin families
- Find facilitators and programs for Tla'amin children and families that help promote a healthy lifestyle and ongoing personal growth
- Promote attendance from community to any day programming scheduled
- Continue to grow day programming to match the needs of Tla'amin and its families
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field of study, combined with 2 years of directly related experience or an equivalent amount of work, studies, and/or personal experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 2 years working in a support-type role with Indigenous children and families
- Experience in project management
- Comprehensive knowledge of Child Welfare policies
- Above average written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple resources, groups, and community data
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Hold a v and acceptable drivers abstract.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector and acceptable history check related to child protection (MCFD) before employment.
- Additional skills that are an asset or must be willing to learn:_ _
- Computer literacy, familiar with Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- First Aid
- Mental Health First Aid
- Knowledge and awareness of Child Welfare Reform priorities for First Nations communities
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily at čɛpθtən House. Occasional travel to attend meetings or training is required.
