**About the Role**:
We're looking for a Corporate Controller to oversee all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting operations within the organization. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, implementing internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Establish and implement accounting procedures and policies, ensuring compliance with all accounting standards.
- Lead and inspire the Accounting Team, aligning departmental goals with corporate strategies.
- Manage up-to-date accounting records and ensure timely reconciliations of all general ledgers.
- Oversee payroll, ensuring timely payment of source deductions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and timely financial statement reporting in coordination with the Director of Reporting.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory reports (corporate tax returns, GST returns, WSIB and EHT returns, Statistical Reports) in coordination with the Manager of Tax & Compliance.
- Manage insurance for all entities.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and cash disbursements.
- Maintain accurate standard costing and inventory control.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial reports and documents, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Perform financial risk assessments in conjunction with operating business units.
- Manage and monitor the Standard Fee Model for all management companies and the standard costing model and Recoverable Costs.
- Coordinate with the Capital team to forecast debt and equity needs.
- Ensure proper ERP system setup for tracking and control in coordination with the Budgets, Investments & Analytics team.
- Maintain control over the financial close process, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Intercompany transactions.
- Ensure timely action on all audit and compliance questions.
- Assist with corporate financial decision-making processes.
- Optimize the use of enterprise software to manage the department effectively.
- Provide training, tools, and support to operating business units to understand actual financial results.
- Participate in short and long-term strategic and tactical planning and initiatives to meet the financial needs of the organizations.
- Oversee the preparation of annual corporate budgets and the corporate calendar.
- Monitor projected financial performance, cash flow, and balance sheets based on operating budgets.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with operational managers and directors to achieve organizational goals.
**About You**:
- CPA, CGA, or CA designation, or a combination of an accounting degree and extensive experience.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience in the real estate industry.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and managerial skills with a proven ability to provide direction and inspire a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for clear and concise information sharing.
- Strong organizational skills, adept at managing competing priorities and meeting timelines.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Yardi and Newstar or other ERP systems is considered an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of cost and financial accounting procedures, protocols, analysis, and reporting.
- Expertise in the cost-effective utilization and optimization of ERP systems and the IT environment.
- Strong project management experience, capable of developing, monitoring, and evaluating ongoing projects with multiple deliverables and deadlines.
- Excellent research and analytical skills for processing large volumes of information efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively with the Executive Team and business unit leaders, inspiring confidence and collaboration.
