**Job purpose**

H&S specialist helps to minimize the risk of job-related accidents, monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities, and develop policies to promote occupational health and safety (OSH) awareness. The associate’s work will be focused on prevention. The associate needs to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers.

The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

- Ensures plant safety rules are effectively implemented, housekeeping standards are followed and required personal protective equipment is used.
- Responsible for Daily, Monthly and Annual Inspections to ensure workplace compliance.
- Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs to employees, with regard to WHMIS, Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, industry specific related issues, etc.
- Maintain and deliver any other necessary safety training including annual refresher training and onboarding.
- Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee program.
- Respond to safety-related and non-compliance issues or concerns from employees or management
- Work with the H&S Coordinator to develop programs that identify and eliminate violations/hazards at the workplace
- Reviews all accident/incident reports and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain MSDS documentation for all sites.
- Responsible for maintaining the documentation and paperwork of any H & S Related activities.
- Comply with all the guidelines prescribed by OHSA.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**
- Proven experience as safety specialist or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices.
- Experience in reporting and developing policies.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Diligent with an analytical mind.
- BSc/Ba in health and safety or relevant field.

**Working conditions**
- Always work indoors.
- May be exposed to very hot temperatures from ovens.
- Usually wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, and beard nets.
- Straight shift work.

- Standing
