**About the Opportunity**:
PLEASE NOTE: We are located approximately 1 hour outside of Halifax. There is no access to a bus route, therefore reliable transportation is required

Responsible to and under the direction of the Nutrition and Food Service Supervisor, the Food Production Worker is responsible for performing routinely assigned duties in meal preparation, heating/reheating of food, meal service, cafeteria, and catering service, Meals on Wheels, and cleaning related to providing quality, safe and nutritious food as per the food service model to the patients, residents, clients, and customers of the facility/community.

The Food Service Worker ensures that the principles and practices that guide the NSH such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and inter-professional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Grade 12
- Knowledge of food preparation and special diets preferred
- Experience with cash handling and catering is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
- Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of staff, patients, and residents
- Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to patients, residents, employees, and the business of the organization
- Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health
- Physically able to perform job duties including:

- Ability to lift in excess of 20 kg;
- Ability to withstand the demands of talking, bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, and transferring/transporting
- equipment;
- Ability to work in an environment with high heat and temperature fluctuations.
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$21.32 - $23.25 Hourly
