Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

HISP 328 - Literature of Ideas: Latin America (3 credits)

Teaching Schedule: Monday/Wednesday 2:35-3:55 pm

Course details: This course is devoted to a critical reading and discussion of works of outstanding Latin American thinkers as a key to understanding the cultural development of Latin America.

Teaching Qualification Requirements: Ph.D. in Spanish or registered in the Hispanic Studies PhD program at McGill University. Native or near native fluency in English and Spanish required.

Experience: A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a PhD student in Hispanic Studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University.

Position Summary:
A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request, review of their students’ grades;
g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;

Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
