**Position Summary**:
Technical Advisor, Boilers & Pressure Vessels enhances public safety by delivering consulting services and education within TSSA and externally on the requirements of the TSS Act, Ontario BPV Regulations and the adopted technical codes and standards.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role provides technical and code interpretations to internal and external stakeholders. Technical Advisor assists in the development, revision and updating of Safety Bulletins, Directors Orders, QA Procedures, and inspection procedures. This role also assists clients in development of their QA manuals and preparation for QA surveys. Technical Adviser is responsible for monitoring and taking corrective actions related to TSSA AIA QA Manual.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide training and education to TSSA staff and external clients on code and standards to ensure current and consistent practice and knowledge
- Coordinate incident investigations, review reports, and perform root cause analysis
- Administer the ASME QAI-1 Program including scheduling, preparing documents, and duties as per the Program manual
- Participate in external committee meetings such as CSA Code Committees or BPV council meetings
- Contribute knowledge to the review of variance requests through the internal Variance Committee meetings
- Prepare and analyze business data for the program such as backlog or debrief reports
- Establish new boiler, pressure vessel and pressure piping regulatory/technical code training seminars or programs and continuously improve existing seminars or programs for presentation to industry and clients based on their feedback and regulatory/code changes
- Deliver training seminars or programs to industry and clients

**Job Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary diploma/degree is preferred (e.g. Mechanical Engineering);
- Ontario Certificate of Competency is preferred
- National Board IS and AI Commissions and eligible for R, N, B & NS endorsements
- Min. 5 years of experience in the BPV field (e.g. welding, inspection, QA, operation, repair)
- Broad technical knowledge of pressure equipment design, inspection, manufacture, installation, repair, alteration, operation and maintenance
- Advanced knowledge of Boilers and Pressure Vessels Regulations, TSSA Safety Bulletins, and applicable Codes and Standards
