We are looking for a savvy Chartered Professional Accountant ready for the next step in their career to join our dynamic team as Controller in our New Westminster office. You will report directly to the Director of Finance and be immersed in the financial well-being of our growing company. As controller, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day accounting and finance function, mentoring and motivating your team. Our office is located in New Westminster BC, but role is open to hybrid/flexible.

An integral part of the financial team; the Controller will be relied on to provide key financial information and reports in a timely and efficient manner to better allow the Executive Team and management to make informed decisions. You will manage and guide the accounting team to provide timely and accurate financial reporting, efficient information processing and deep financial insight into the company. You will act as a key support to the Director of Finance and the Executive Team in executing the company strategy. You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting practices while training and mentoring junior staff.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- CPA designation with a minimum of 5+ years experience.
- Minimum of 2 years+ experience as a Controller in the waste management, manufacturing or transportation sector.
- 5+ years of experience working in a financial management position.
- Must have mid-market private company experience.
- Ensure deadlines are met.
- Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills.
- Superior attention to detail without losing high-level perspective.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to develop strong relationships based on trust and integrity.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and present financial information clearly.
- Demonstrated leadership background with the ability to influence positive change.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical skills & follow up.
- Advanced skill set in MS Office and demonstrated superior skills with MS Excel.
- Knowledge of Adagio is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with staff, peers and superiors both within and outside of the company.
**The Role**:
- Managing and mentoring financial team; ensuring that direct reports have clear job targets.
- Leading and managing the delivery of full cycle accounting functions on a regular basis, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and taxes.
- Developing the finance team by managing performance, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
- Ensuring that financial statements and management reports are prepared in accordance with ASPE GAAP or best practices.
- Ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met for financial and other reports.
- Liaising with and supporting the Executive and Management Team on any financial analysis or issues.
- Monitoring financial results and covenants, and reporting findings to the Executive Team.
- Reviewing variances and financial results and providing detailed information to the Executive Team.
- Preparing cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy.
- Overseeing the tracking of projects and capital expenditures.
- Supporting the acquisition of capital assets.
- Competing all necessary reporting requirements and supporting external auditors on the annual audit engagement.
- Monitoring and analyzing the financial department to develop more efficient procedures and proper use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure.
- Strong industry operating experience
- Driving improvements to accounting processes and systems to obtain operational efficiencies, improve internal controls and produce financial information in a more accurate, effective, and timely manner.
