The Social Policy/Research Analyst will be tasked with overseeing development of the Child Protection law, policies, and procedure development, as well as developing assessments and practices. The Social Policy/Research Analyst will ensure their employment requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the mission, beliefs, and vision of Child Protection at Seabird Island contributes to establishment of a Child Protection Law.
The Social Policy/Research Analyst will connect the dream and goals of Child Protection with meaningful development of laws that are inclusive of our culture, traditions, kinship, practices, and our service delivery approach.
This is a full-time term position until March 31, 2024 with a possibility of extension.
**About Child Protection Jurisdiction**:
The objective of the Child Protection Jurisdiction Program is to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to work towards the preservation of families through the development and implementation of a Child Protection Law ensuring that the rights, safety, well-being and spirit of Indigenous children and families are upheld, honoured, and protected. We strive to eliminate oppression, discrimination, and marginalization of Indigenous children and families.
We acknowledge and honour the inherent wisdom, capacity, and resourcefulness of our families, parents, and community in designing programs and services to care for our own children. Accordingly, we are dedicated to planning, developing, and implementing creative and innovative Child Protection Law and services in collaboration with members of our community and other agencies.
Our approach is situated in a model of the child in the center of their circle of support, surrounded by family and community. The Child Protection Jurisdiction team focuses on developing holistic plans, policies, and protocols with an emphasis on connection to family, culture, and community.
