**Position summary**

In this role, you will provide expertise in policy development, analysis, planning, and research in areas aligned with Seabird Island policy agenda including the development of reports, presentations, plans and publications. The Policy Analyst, you will develop strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, First Nations communities, partners, and organizations, and with federal, provincial, and external stakeholders. Collaborating across the organization to conduct research and analysis and preparing briefings, reports, publications, strategies, discussion papers, summaries, and other documents to support policy and planning.

**What you’ll do**
- Reviews and revises current policy and guidelines for each area based on senior management and governing body direction.
- Conducts research and analysis and prepares briefings, reports, publications, strategies, discussion papers, summaries, and other documents to support policy and planning.
- Evaluates current policies and makes recommendations for revisions.
- Identifies policy issues, provides options, and recommends amendments or development of new policies based on business needs or new.
- Ensures that all Seabird policies, bylaws, codes, etc. are cross-referenced with each other and with Government regulations.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of presentations, including making presentations as required.
- Coordinates work with technical experts (internally and externally) and provides research and analysis for guidelines that support policies.
- Develops, recommends, and implements new initiatives, policy and/or research projects under direction of the Director.
- Coordinates activities and information flow related to the initiatives/projects developed.
- Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops, recommends, and implements processes to ensure congruency with Seabird Island Policy, Planning and Strategic Services and other departments under direction of the Director.
- Responsible for developing and implementing work plans, identifying, and defining key initiatives and outcomes, conducting research, writing policy, codes, and plans, and identifies recommendations for consideration.
- Participates on internal and/or external committees
- Attends, summarizes, and take notes for meetings and propose follow-up, including briefing senior management and others as needed.
- Provides status, verbal or written reports at frequencies determined by management and in the format requested.
