POSITION SUMMARY

The A:yelexw Recovery Homes Supervisor (ARHS) will operate efficiently in accordance with the philosophies, policies, and objectives established by Seabird Island Band Management. The ARHS will provide administrative and support services to the recovery home staff. The ARHS will provide mental health services to clients and families of the recovery homes. The ARHS will ensure strong cultural values and programming through a client centered approach and be grounded in culture and community support. The ARHS will monitor weekly and monthly budgets and communicate with other First Nations communities and external agencies to gauge needs and ensure awareness and access.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Staffing – direct reports

Supervise recovery home staff, including case managers and recovery support staff Ensure adequate staffing for recovery home needs, with qualified employees, to meet program and policy requirements.
Cultivate professionalism, diligence and dedication in staff, always ensuring quality program delivery.
Ensure that all staff within the applicable programs have the appropriate training, credentials, oath of confidentiality, criminal record checks, and other documentation as required by SIB or relevant licensing bodies.
Ensure that all program staff are always up-to-date and familiar with all applicable governing and funding policies, including the Seabird HR Policy

Programs

Provide administrative duties for the recovery homes. Compile and submit monthly reports to the Health and Social Development Director, containing both narrative and statistical information.
Develop substance use and culturally relevant programming.
Ensure that all programs meet or exceed the expectations for the clients of the homes.
Advocate on behalf of clients and families
Alert the Health and Social Development Director of any concerns.

Other

Participate in community activities and functions as required by SIB and Chief and Council, including but not limited to Seabird Island Festival, and the Seabird Island Open House
Act as an ambassador to other communities and the province at large, always representing the image of Seabird Island Band.
Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education

Bachelor's degree in social work, counselling, or related field is required.

Experience/Skills

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the substance use field.
A detailed and professional understanding substance use, family dynamics, inter generational trauma, and mental illness
Understanding of the complexity of trauma, colonization, substance use, mental illness and the impacts of these
Ability to direct activity and programming that support clients in building self-worth, resilience and boundaries.
Three to five years’ supervisory experience of multi-disciplinary staff
An ability to ensure kind, caring, compassionate care to clients while ensuring the best decisions are being made.
Ability to maintain a high level of respect and confidence from clients and the community.
Ability to balance competing priorities, multitask, and to work under pressure.
Able to demonstrate flexibility and creativity when called upon

Requirements 

Must be available for varied shifts, including some evenings and weekends.
Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.)
Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc.
Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language or willingness to learn.
Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
Valid BC Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract within the last 5 years.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRRP)
