**THE ROLE**:
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of People & Operations, the Controller is responsible for driving financial excellence and risk management. This includes overseeing the direct planning, organization, control and evaluation of the activities and operations of the Finance department as well as target setting, compliance, and monitoring of operational statistics for all of John Brooks

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Leadership and Management Responsibilities**:

- Leads the Accounting department; tracks and measures Company goals, provides instruction and direction on tasks, coaches and motivates employees to perform their duties and regularly evaluates the work of employees.
- Makes critical decisions daily including but not limited to, procedure, planning, operational and financial strategy decisions.
- Addresses, manages, and resolves all internal/external inquiries/requests related to accounting operations, staff matters, and other inter-departmental issues, etc. Provides suggestions/feedback, as needed.
- Leads and oversees the development and implementation of the annual budget and operating plans; provides financial guidance and support.
- Manages the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts receivable write-offs, accounts payable, and statutory reporting.
- Prepares and presents financial statements and accounting information/reports, i.e., budgets, incentive calculations etc., to Senior Management.
- Maintains accurate and timely financial and operating information and provides analysis, interpretation and projections to management as required.

**General**:

- Oversight for all financial and operational reporting.
- Manages and enforces delegation of authority matrix and ensure strong internal control.
- Monitors, controls, supports, and ensures accounting systems, methodologies, and procedures are in place and followed.
- Contributes to the development and achievement of the overall business plan and the Accounting department.
- Troubleshoots issues as they arise in the operating system, i.e., orders delayed at different statuses in operating system.
- Manage cash balance, determines foreign currency and hedging requirements.
- Provides oversight for reviews and corrections of error batches in the operating system.
- Reviews month-end reconciliations, work order costing and makes corrections when required.
- Inventory sub-ledger to general ledger oversight.
- Provide corporate tax and other tax filings.
- Reviews margins to ensure margin goals are achieved.
- Reviews allowance for doubtful accounts provision
- Review freight reporting, and dead and slow inventory analysis.
- Reviews credit lines, credit and debit memos, and reviews expenses to ensure they are being coded to the correct business units.
- Processes final incentive and commission calculation and distribution.
- Prepares, completes, provides oversight for the completion of annual audit as required.
