This is a casual position (on call) and requires shift work. Under the immediate supervision of the Program Manager, the Relief Women’s Services Worker is responsible for providing crisis intervention and support services to women residents.

**Qualifications**:

- University degree or College diploma in Social Service Worker field and/or extensive equivalent experience working in the VAW sector
- Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in issues relating to woman abuse
- Strong feminist analysis and understanding of a feminist counselling framework
- Commitment to providing service within an ant-racism/anti-oppression framework
- Knowledge of agencies, programs, and services in Simcoe County
- Sound judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Licensed to drive in Ontario and access to a vehicle
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Good computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and the internet

**Duties or Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct consultation, crisis intervention and counselling to women in crisis situations both in person and via the telephone crisis lines. Provide one-to-one support and counselling to residents and women in the community.
- Assess potential clients for eligibility according to the eligibility criteria for service
- Assess client need in consultation with the client and assist women to develop and follow through with plans. Assist women to set goals and discuss short and long-term alternatives.
- Provide information on woman abuse, safety planning and other pertinent information.
- Present a positive role model for women.
- Advocate for women and their children with other services when requested by the client. Accompany women to appointments, ie. legal, housing, when applicable.
- Provide information and referrals to community services and resources
- Document all crisis calls and resident notes in WISH system

**Hiring Requirements**:

- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
- Valid C.P.R. and First Aid Certificate
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Access to a vehicle

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $24.97-$27.57 per hour

Schedule:

- On call

COVID-19 considerations:
All employees complete once weekly rapid testing and/or prior to their shift (for casual employees). Rapid antigen tests are currently provided by the employer. Strict cleaning and health screening protocols are in place.
