Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Public Works, the Manager of Transportation performs professional engineering and administrative work entailing responsibility for the visioning and planning of effective municipal transportation systems, related policies, procedures, capital projects, and operations in the Engineering & Public Works Department. The Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of the City’s transportation program infrastructure, encompassing traffic safety, traffic management, traffic calming, traffic operations and transportation planning and modeling. The position retains and manages engineering consultants and works in consultation with other managers in the efficient utilization of specialized staff resources, including engineering design staff, draftspersons, inspectors, and office staff. The work requires considerable contact with Council, residents, community organizations, citizen’s groups, developers, other municipalities and agencies, and other various interest groups.

**What you bring**:

- A completed University Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering with related municipal experience and registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
- 10 years’ recent related experience in transportation planning, engineering and operations in an increasingly responsible management capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Passion for transportation, and serving the Community
- Strong analytical skills and a track record of implementing best practices and workplace improvements in your area of expertise
- Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques and equipment used in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and functional road design
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, and are able to establish a results-oriented team culture.
- Confidence in presenting technical information and data to a variety of audiences including Council and the public, using a variety of mediums
- A commitment to excellent customer service, continuous improvement and life-long learning.
