Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.

**Summary of responsibilities**:
The Clinical Support Supervisor works collaboratively with other stakeholders in order to provide a seamless patient experience. The Clinical Support Supervisor will utilize various resources to ensure an efficient and seamless patient flow process. Specifically, the Clinical Support Supervisor supports, coordinates, and directs effective use of resources for the nursing and patient care areas, as well as support services, such as house-keeping, pharmacy, and Patient Registration. The Clinical Support Supervisor is also responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating activities related to bed management. The Clinical Support Supervisor will manage human resources by ensuring that staffing levels adhere to CCH protocols, and patient safety requirements.

**Requirements of the job**:

- Provide leadership to assigned areas while facilitating the effective and efficient movement of admitted patients throughout the hospital.
- Promote optimal patient and clinical outcomes by assessing and facilitating the effective management of care, utilization of resources, and length of stay in collaboration with the various stakeholders.
- Accountable for monitoring and reporting bed census on a continuous basis.
- Respond to and act as a resource in all code situations.
- Monitor quality metrics, and correct course as needed.
- Monitor staffing levels to ensure patient safety, and CCH requirements are met. Reassign staff as needed.
- Communicate any bed shortage, or other concerns to administration.
- Initiate follow-up, and respond to complaints from patients/facilities
- Directs media inquiries to the Communications Coordinator

**Key skills or competencies**:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Holds current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum 2 years current, relevant clinical experience
- Strong Planning and Resource Management Skills
- Proven ability to inspire leadership skills in all clinical positions and facilitate a team environment
- Knowledge and experience with healthcare systems, including applicable provincial legislation and related regulations, including PHIPA and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Flexibility and capacity to manage numerous and diverse activities, organizing and prioritizing appropriately to meet demands and expectations
- Demonstrated ability to engage staff in identifying and implementing process improvements that lead to exceptional care and a strong team
- Computer literacy (MS Office, Excel, Outlook) and superior communication skills that permit ease with presentations and sharing of information
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and continuous quality improvement
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary health services team
- High level of problem solving and critical thinking skills to find solutions to difficult human, technical, clinical or administrative problems
- This position requires you to work on a scheduled rotation of days, evenings and weekends.
