**Job Summary**: As a Produce Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring the freshness, quality, and presentation of the produce department in our grocery store. You will work closely with customers, assisting them in selecting high-quality fruits and vegetables, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

**Responsibilities**:
**Stocking and Inventory Management**:

- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming produce shipments.
- Rotate and replenish produce displays to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management regarding ordering needs.

**Quality Control**:

- Inspect produce for quality, freshness, and any signs of spoilage.
- Remove damaged or expired products from shelves to maintain high standards.
- Follow proper handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and maintain food safety.

**Customer Service**:

- Greet and assist customers in selecting produce items, providing information on varieties, ripeness, and preparation methods.
- Offer recommendations and suggestions to customers based on their preferences and dietary needs.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.

**Merchandising and Presentation**:

- Arrange and display produce in an attractive and appealing manner to enhance the shopping experience.
- Ensure proper signage and pricing of products, including any promotions or specials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the produce department, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.

**Compliance and Safety**:

- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of produce.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including dress code and safety protocols.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to management promptly.

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment preferred.
- Knowledge of various fruits and vegetables, including identification, ripeness, and storage recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift and carry heavy boxes or crates of produce (up to 50 pounds).
- Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments.

**Education**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
