Grades and Layout Supervisor

We are currently looking for an outstanding individual to join our team as a Grades and Layout Supervisor. This is a new opportunity for someone with a seasoned grades and layout background who has been looking for a senior position to mentor and oversee the work of our layout and grades workers as well as performing layout and grades work for various projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support current layout and grades staff.
- Lead, mentor and direct layout and grades staff, equipment, and resources.
- Manage the overall work for grades and layout on our construction sites, ensuring that workers adhere to construction plans and designs.
- Preparing layout data, site calibration, set control points using Trimble Business Center for GPS/Total Stations
- Verify graded surfaces using various survey equipment such as a site level, laser level, total stations, and GPS.
- Consult blueprints, designs, and client instructions to assist with development of plans for each site-specific grades & layout person and project.
- Performing quantity calculations and tracking of daily field quantities and survey records
- Submit daily reports with Productions, Notes, Timesheets, etc.
- Grading, excavation, road and lot grading, concrete grading, etc.
- Ability to meet productions and timelines.
- Maintain inventory of surveying equipment including recommendations for new purchases and identifying equipment in need of service or upgrade.
- Perform as-builts of installed infrastructure, recording and maintaining project as-builts data.
- Work well with and communicate with Construction Manager and Project Managers/Coordinators on project related Issues.
- Adhere to and promote company policies and safety practices.

- Graduate of Civil Engineering Technologist program or equivalent
- Experience with AutoCAD and GIS software
- A minimum of five (5) years experience as a grades and layout person or foreperson
- Knowledge of GPS systems including ability to set up a project within Trimble GPS software System.
- Proficient and competent with survey equipment and standard surveying instruments
- Knowledge of construction techniques, Ontario Provincial Standards, and safety practices
- The ability to read and understand blueprints, city specifications and grades.
- Knowledge of filling out daily logs, forms, and time sheets for the crew
- A positive attitude and the ability to work well alone & in a team environment.
- Effective leader, team player and communicator
- Knowledge of proper construction staking methods
- Experience with supervising crews, managing job sites, and coordinating daily activities.
