**Job Summary**:
As part of the AFMC Data and Analysis team, the Data Analyst is responsible for data collection and reporting of information on the Academic Medicine system in Canada.

**Your role as a Data Analyst will focus on one or more of**: Reporting, Collection, or Management and Analysis.

Reporting (Essential)
- Prepare (using SQL, Python, PowerBi or similar tools) and present research analyses, reports, and other communication materials in a clear manner adapted to the audience;
- Review results, query and resolve anomalies enter in database, prepare tables for publication;
- Prepare / type set annual publication for hard copy publication and electronic distribution, including:

- Biomedical & Health Care Research Revenue Survey;
- AFMC Annual Faculty of Medicine Survey;
- Admission Requirements of Canadian Faculties of Medicine;
- Annual Financial Questionnaire;
- Graduation Questionnaire; and
- Applicant Diversity Survey.

Data Administration and Analysis (recommended)
- Manage research databases, including writing and maintaining Azure SQL database objects and/or data manipulation scripts for:

- Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes;
- Data management;
- Cross database aggregation;
- Cross database linking and matching;
- Quality assurance;
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests from internal and external clients.

Data Collection
- Develop, implement, test and deploy complex online surveys;
- Create or modify new Data Collection Instruments (DCI) as needed;
- Prepare, distribute and collect annual data via online surveys, data collection instruments (DCI), or data exchange/interfaces; and
- Interact and work efficiently with committee members from all faculties of medicine across Canada.

Additional Duties
- Develop and monitor project timelines and deliverables on an ongoing basis;
- Ongoing development of AFMC data collection tools and systems;
- Participate in new data development initiatives;
- Contribute to team projects and meetings;
- Adhere to high standards of data privacy, confidentiality and quality; and
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education/Certification/Experience**:

- Post-secondary degree in Data Science (essential)
- Demonstrated experience using Python (essential) with Pandas Library (recommended)
- Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI to generate reports (essential).
- Demonstrated experience in Reporting and at least one of the areas above (Data Collection or Data Management and Analysis) additional experience beyond to machine learning techniques, model development and feature engineering (asset)
- Demonstrated experience in creating Microsoft SQL/Azure views and stored procedures
- Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues to non-technical end users

**Language Skills**:

- Bilingual in English in French (Asset)
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints in both languages.

**Physical Demands**:
While fulfilling job responsibilities, this role requires flexibility to work in different environments, including a remote home office setup, occasional travel, and participation in in-person meetings. Due to these demands, the employee will typically engage in the following activities:

- Extended periods of sitting, often at a computer workstation.
- Occasional walking or movement within the home office environment, at travel locations, or during in-person meetings.
- Occasional lifting and relocation of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, primarily when traveling or setting up for in-person events.
- Flexibility in work hours, including the potential for occasional overtime, to meet project deadlines, especially when coordinating with different time zones or during travel.
