**Working at Fanshawe College**
- **Note**: This is a full-time Administrative position (37.5 hours per week).
- **Duties**:Supporting the College’s overall goals, the Communications Supervisor oversees the Reputation and Brand Management (RBM) event team and enterprise-wide student communications. This role reports to the Director of Communications and provides essential strategic and tactical assistance for the aforementioned groups but also special, collegewide initiatives (e.g., ERP, Fanshawe Global).
- The Communications Supervisor works to ensure that all communications materials and activities support the Fanshawe brand and the college’s key strategic priorities. The Supervisor contributes to the development of the communications team’s annual business plans and shares accountability for its implementation.
- The Communications Supervisor is also part of the College’s extended emergency management response team and supports critical incident and crisis communications activities. This role will directly support the Director via on call duties and tactical implementation of communications strategies in the event of a crisis.**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary 4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations, Event Planning or related discipline or equivalent
- Minimum 5 year’s proven experience in all aspects of the communications mandate for a large multi-faceted progressive organization, including excellent media relations experience, image building, strategic planning
- Progressive experience including supervisory/management experience
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
- Current knowledge and experience of new and emerging technologies
- Research and critical analytical skills; understanding of changes, trends and techniques in managing social and traditional media relations
- Well developed, effective written and oral communication and presentation skills, with excellent listening skills
- Superior interpersonal, conflict-resolution and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated time management skills and an ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to problem solve to meet stringent deadlines and budgetary constraints
