This is an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team within SPARK. The Manager, Faculty Support, Training and Development is accountable for oversight and operational management of faculty support activities, training programs and delivery of faculty development programming.

Embracing a model of inclusive, learner-focused leadership, the incumbent manages and coaches a team of professionals who provide just-in-time support for faculty in their teaching practice using multiple channels including a knowledge base, ticketing system and individual consultation. The manager will also ensure training programs are of the highest quality and easily adaptable to the needs of Sheridan's academic community.

The incumbent will work closely with the project team to operationalize new training and development opportunities based on demand and predictive visioning. The manager will coordinate efforts and deploy resources to ensure a strong collaborative relationship with our academic community including Associate Deans, Faculty members and other members of the SPARK team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Providing leadership to team members and faculty, to create and sustain an organizational culture of growth and innovation in teaching and learning.

Establishing priorities and seeking opportunities to maximize capacity of resources, maintaining accountability for resource stewardship, policies, and procedures of the portfolio.

Providing direction and supervision to teams to ensure adequate coverage, operational requirements are met, prompt response to all incoming user support or problem requests, resolution of issues, ad ensuring proper escalation of issues to internal resources and/or external.

Leading all activities related to the support model, including the updates to resources hub and ticketing system for SPARK.

Directing delivery mechanisms to train all faculty, ensuring that training is created, delivered, and monitored, using a variety of modalities, deliveries, and mechanisms.

Finding creative ways to assist faculty in skill development with respect to teaching and learning including the use of learning and educational technologies and instructional design best practice.

Ensuring that all faculty development programs meet the highest standards and expectations, embracing a learner-focused approach.

Encouraging the development of communities of practice to facilitate innovative teaching and learning practice.

Collecting and organizing relevant data for planning and budgeting purposes to support SPARK initiatives.

Using an evidence-based approach to inform training and support and producing regular reports for academic programs that guide their strategic academic decision making and faculty development activities.

Performing other duties as assigned

About You

You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.

You bring a deep understanding of instructional strategies, outcomes-based curricula and emerging trends in higher education.

You have vast experience leading cross-functional teams with experience building community participation and engagement.

You have exceptional project management skill and process design experience with superior organizational skills that allow you to track multiple projects and ensure they are all completed on time.

You have creative problem-solving skills which allow you to generate new ideas for consideration by the and identify unique or modified approaches to achieve results or solve problems.

You have demonstrated experience working creatively and collaboratively to support the realization of vision and direction.

Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design/Digital Education or a related field of study.

7 years of experience, including administrative and teaching experience in education and experience designing, delivering, and refining educational programs, services, and resources adult learners. (Equivalency will be considered).

Must have in-depth knowledge of learning management systems and course design and development.

Experience designing and leading support and training programs.

Experience in designing learning experience(multimodal) with knowledge of current trends in digital teaching and learning technologies.

Extensive experience consulting with faculty, staff, and academic leaders

Current knowledge in the post-secondary environment

Experience in collection and analysis of data and development of metrics & reports for evidence-based planning and development

Business acumen (e.g. budget management; ability to creatively address fiscal pressures)
