**JOIN OUR TEAM**
We’re seeking an organized, detail oriented and passionate individual to fill the role of Project Assistant within the BC Settlement and Integration Services Program.
**POSITION FUNCTION**:
Under the supervision of the BCSIS Program Manager, the Project Assistant provides administrative, technical and clerical support essential for the successful undertaking of the BC Refugee Claimant Housing Referral and Data Management System Project (BC CHARMS).
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Have a working knowledge of newcomer experiences in Canada
- Certificate (and/or appropriate experience) in office administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and the ability to operate standard office equipment
- Exceptional computer skills
- Experience with high-volume quantitative data collection, information management and /or database development;
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy of client information
- Working knowledge of Refugees and Refugee Claimants, and empathetic listening and service linking techniques
- Have the ability to speak, read and write in fluent English, a secondary language will be considered an asset
- Experience in dealing with administrative procedures
- Empathetic, respectful and discrete; remains tactful and patient during stressful situations
- Highly organized and flexible
- Have understanding of social justice issues in a community setting
- Possess knowledge of immigrant and refugee situations
- Have strong cross-cultural support skills
- Have experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
**HOURS**:
**21 hours/week**
**BENEFITS**:
- A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week_.
