Families Canada (FC) is the national association of family support centres. Our members are community-level organizations who provide hubs of free services, programs, and resources to primarily low-income and disadvantaged families in communities across Canada. Through our 500+ members, we impact the lives of approximately 500,000 families per year. For over 40 years, we have helped our members meet the evolving and complex needs of families by:
- Piloting, adapting, and scaling evidence-based programming
- Developing and disseminating evidence-informed resources
- Providing professional development opportunities
In our work, we partner with private, public, non-profit and academic organizations to turn knowledge into practice. A multisector approach is essential for addressing barriers and strengthening families.
Families Canada is recruiting an organized and creative professional to fulfill communications and technology support functions in a small but impactful team.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Conduct website administration, maintenance, security and general upkeep (WordPress and associated plugins)
- Support management of Shopify store, Membership Management System, Learning Management System, and podcast hosting platform
- Coordinate development, production, and distribution of print and digital communications products—including social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube), e-blasts (MailChimp)
- Coordinate content creation
- Manage editorial calendar
- Collaborate with team members and digital marketing agency to implement communication campaigns
- Ensure brand consistency
- Monitor communications budget and prepare financial reports as needed
- Ensure documents and files are properly maintained
**Qualifications**
- Completed undergraduate degree/diploma in IT, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Information and Communications Technology, or similar fields is a must
- Knowledge and/or experience in web maintenance, web development, and using third-party APIs and plug-ins
- Knowledge and/or experience with WordPress, Shopify, Membership Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, podcast hosting platforms, Eventbrite, MailChimp, professional social media use, and Hootsuite
- Comfortable with explaining technical concepts to non-technical project stakeholders
- Experience developing communication campaigns and materials
- Experience managing editorial calendars
- Excellent writing and oral skills
- English language fluency is required.
**Assets**
- Experience with graphic design tools is an asset
- Experience monitoring projects’ budgets is an asset
- French language fluency is an asset
- Previous non-profit experience in the fields of community development, family support, child rights, aging, public and/or policy is an asset
- Knowledge and/or experience in front-end web development languages (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
