West Park Healthcare Centre helps patients get their lives back by providing inpatient, outpatient and outreach services in specialized rehabilitative and complex care after a life-altering illness or injury such as lung disease, amputation, stroke, and traumatic musculoskeletal injuries. By 2023, West Park’s 27-acre site will be transformed into an integrated campus of care, including a new hospital building and additional community supports such as assisted living for persons with disabilities and seniors. This transformation enables the Centre to evolve its rehabilitative programs and strengthen links to community-based services to meet the future healthcare needs of our local community and the province.

***Accountabilities**:

- Prepares, plans and manages annual operating and capital budgets for the department in conjunction with Finance. Optimizes usage of human and financial resources. Ensures operating expenses are contained and aligned with those of peer groups in other hospitals.
- Schedules supervisors, administrative support staff and menu clerks. Ensures payroll is accurate before approving KRONOS weekly.
- Responsible for all aspects of managing staff; recruitment/ hiring, orientation/training, on-going education, performance appraisals, discipline and termination. Heavy labour relations component to role and strong focus on attendance management.
- Acts as mentor and coach for supervisors to support them in their front line role.
- Responsible for West Park's participation in group buying contracts (ie. HealthPRO, SSW) Assists with RFP development as required. Oversees preventative maintenance agreements.
- Reviews incoming supply invoices for approval and timely processing. Creates purchase orders for non-routine purchases.
- Creates and plans for the implementation of a complex 3 week cycle menu with multiple therapeutic versions that must be appetizing and affordable. This includes matching the purchasing cycle and quantities needed to the menu weeks.
- Revises menu bi-annually (spring/summer and fall/winter) to provide the seasonal variation long term stay patients expect. Strong focus on the introduction of new menu items frequently to create greater patient meal satisfaction.
- Analyzes nutrient content of foods under consideration for menu to ensure most nutritious option chosen that delivers on established criteria for use (price, rethermability, nutrients, etc.).
- Ensures Computrition databases kept current. Oversees proper administration and maintenance of Computrition software including EPR interface and system upgrades. Collaborates/troubleshoots with professional staff, IT and Diet Technician on system issues.
- Works collaboratively on a professional basis with RD’s and SLP’s to optimize patient care plans and meet established best practices in all areas. Provides guidance to RD’s on food service related matters; supplements, diet types, best practice, budget, diet office functions, challenging patients, etc.
- Manages the many risks inherent with patient feeding and reprocessing of instruments and equipment. Responsible for ensuring best practices in food handling and infection control protocols are followed at all times. This includes monitoring key quality indicators closely.
- Manages the operation in accordance with Ontario’s public health food handling regulations and ensures all staff have current food handlers training certification. Meets enforced Public Health inspection standards to achieve “PASS” certification quarterly.
- Identifies where quality and process improvements are needed in the department and drives operational change initiatives forward to achieve successful outcomes.
- Management of small and large projects to improve efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Participates in hospital wide projects and committees.

- Attendance at safety meetings/ trainings/ updates in accordance with Centre’s Standards
- Coaching staff where needed in regards to importance of hazard identification, timely reporting and prevention measures.
