The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) is a not-for-profit organization tasked with the safe, long-term management of Canada’s used nuclear fuel inside a deep geological repository, in a manner that protects people and the environment for generations to come.

Founded in 2002, the NWMO has been guided for 20 years by a dedicated team of world-class scientists, engineers and Indigenous Knowledge Keepers that are developing innovative and collaborative solutions for nuclear waste management. Canada’s plan will only proceed in an area with informed and willing hosts, where the municipality, First Nation and Métis communities, and others in the area are working together to implement it. The NWMO plans to select a site in 2024, and two areas remain in our site selection process: the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation-Ignace area in northwestern Ontario and the Saugeen Ojibway Nation-South Bruce area in southern Ontario.

Geoscience Database Analyst

(Employment Status: Fixed Term until September 30, 2024)

Position Location: Toronto Head Office - 22 St. Clair Avenue East

Job Summary: We are currently seeking a contract Geoscience Database Analyst to join our Geoscience Site Assessment group based at our Toronto headquarters.

Reporting to the Section Manager, Geoscience Database, the Geoscience Database Analyst will support a diverse group of technical staff including Geoscientists, Scientists, Engineers with organizing, importing and extracting datasets from NWMO’s borehole data management system. Key duties include reviewing, evaluating and quality assuring field investigation and lab analysis datasets to ensure compliance with NWMO's quality assurance protocols; completing regular reporting tasks; provide user support for the various Geoscientific Data Management System (GDMS) components; ensuring system functionality, performance and usability.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide acQuire import and export data support to NWMO staff to ensure efficiency in the project(s) workflows.
- Diagnosis and clean problematic data and work with geoscience staff and/or contractors to ensure compatibility for GDMS publication.
- Review, evaluate, and quality assure Geoscience data and products delivered by NWMO experts to ensure compliance with NWMO's Quality Assurance Protocols.
- Develop and maintain acQuire data entry, import, and script objects, as well as Arena tasks for continued functionality of the acQuire GIM Suite.
- Provide expert advice and support to Geoscience, Environment and Engineering team users on the acQuire GIM Suite portion of NWMO's GDMS.
- Execute regular acQuire system maintenance, monitoring and reporting tasks.
- Prepare system summary reports as necessary.
- Interface with the NWMO IT function and vendor support teams, as necessary, to ensure systems functionality, performance and usability, as well as on-going assurance of data asset security, integrity and availability to NWMO staff.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience
- A 4-year Bachelor's degree majoring in Geology, Earth Science, Science or Engineering, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Professional experience working in a geoscientific field.
- Experience with natural sciences and the management of collected field data: i.e. borehole drilling, hydrogeological testing and other geoscientific site investigation methodologies.
- Ability to work in a procedurally regulated environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask in a high-pace environment.
- Must be proactive and able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Preferred
- AcQuire GIM Suite Practitioner certification (Level 2000) is a strong asset
- Experience with ArcGIS products and/or expreince using Seequent DAP Server technology is considered an asset.

Other Information

Must be eligible to work in Canada and must be able to meet security clearance requirements.

NWMO currently operates in a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office (Tuesdays being mandatory) and 2 days working from home. NWMO also has a vaccination policy in place.
