**Position Summary**

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University Health Network is seeking a highly motivated individual to coordinate, develop, and maintain a large prospective data registry. Working under supervision of senior staff and Principal Investigators, the Database Analyst will exercise critical-thinking, judgment and decision-making in utilizing established policies and procedures to complete well defined tasks. drafting standard operating procedures, creating source documents, developing new databases and maintaining existing databases, translating information into database systems, obtaining medical data on longitudinal research cohorts, generating data extracts, attending meetings with database programmers and developers, coordinating necessary data flow with various team members, possibly participating in quantitative and qualitative analysis of data collected from patients, and performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as requested.

**Duties**
- Drafting standard operating procedures, creating source documents
- Developing new databases and maintaining existing databases, translating information into database systems
- Obtaining medical data on longitudinal research cohorts
- Generating data extracts
- Attending meetings with database programmers and developers
- Coordinating necessary data flow with various team members
- Possibly participating in quantitative and qualitative analysis of data collected from patients
- Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as requested

**Qualifications**
- At minimum, a completion of a Bachelor’s degree program, or recognized equivalent in Health Science or Computer Science related discipline
- At least one (1) year experience in a health-related field or equivalent combination of education/experience related to clinical care, clinical research, or health promotion
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote)
- Demonstrated ability to manage work with databases
- Ability to assist in the development of data intake and collection
- Develop materials for disseminating knowledge, including charts, tables and brief write-ups for PowerPoints, standard operating procedures
- Contribute to and manage the coordination of surveys administered to study participants via electronic interfaces
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on organization, time management, and attention to detail
- A self-directed learner, with the ability to work under deadlines for short and long-term projects
- Experience in supervisory role and delegating tasks as needed
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated, with an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Ability to engage with stakeholders and manage their needs
- Some familiarity with the procedures of a Research Ethics Board
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
