The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill **one full-time Forestry Technician** position within our **Energy, Infrastructure & Resource Management Department **located at 150 Henry Ave in **Winnipeg, MB**. Reporting to the Conservation Coordinator, the Forestry Technician will oversee the mitigation and accommodation of impacts to Métis harvesting rights associated with Forestry Management and Operating Plans.
- **Job Duties/Competencies**:_
- Engage with Red River Métis Citizens to better understand and represent their historical and contemporary resource use, cultural and heritage resource concerns, and conservation and ecological concerns;
- Work collaboratively with other MMF staff to coordinate and implement various meetings, programs and initiatives, including traditional land use studies;
- Facilitate Red River Métis involvement in project planning and decision-making as it relates to projects with the potential to impact Métis harvesting rights;
- Analyze legislation and regulations, project descriptions, and assessment materials for potential impacts to Red River Métis Citizens and their resource use;
- Research and develop surveys and interview questions related to regional priorities;
- Participate in research and monitoring projects;
- Assist with the development and presentation of information to Red River Métis Citizens.
- **Skills and Qualifications**:_
- A Bachelor’s degree in social or natural sciences, or related discipline; a combination of education and experience will be considered;
- Experience in research and/or program development;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Experience working with leadership and in community settings;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
- Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
