**About Our Opportunity**:
The Marine Renewable Energy and Clean Innovation Division responsible for providing support to the Department's efforts to develop clean energy resources, reduce Nova Scotia's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, create jobs, and transition to a low-carbon economy.

As an Intern in the Marine Renewable Energy and Clean Innovation Division, you will collaborate on research, policy, and programs related to related to clean growth and marine renewable energy including offshore renewable energy, green hydrogen, clean investment and related policy innovation. You would gain program administration experience by supporting the implementation Marine Renewable-energy Act and regulations and the administration of the tidal energy licence and permit program. You will work collaboratively as a member of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team and with other government agencies and external stakeholders. You will support broader areas of research and marine renewable energy development.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
In this position, you will be under the general supervision of the Division’s Senior Policy Analyst(s) and:

- Provide support to the team on policy and program analysis, and advice and recommendations on a broad range of renewable energy and clean innovation initiatives.
- Conduct research on policy, legislation, and practices in other jurisdictions related to renewable energy and clean innovation.
- Support the preparation of verbal briefings, presentations and consultations, background/discussion papers, briefing notes for ministerial use, business cases, and submissions to senior staff as required.
- Provide feedback to supervisor(s) and other divisional staff as required by creating activity reports, briefings, and disseminating meeting minutes and reports, etc.
- Support data collection, analyses, and metrics (ranging from which companies are active in the clean growth and innovation sector, to economic benefits reporting requirements of projects/programs).

This position may perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be successful in this role, you will have a background in Policy, Business, Finance, Economics, Sciences, or other relevant experience that can support our projects and initiatives. Strong skills in research, analysis, and critical thinking are a must.

The position must also be effective in working in a team situation and establishing collaborative working relationships.

Relevant experience in any of the following areas would be an asset, including environment, innovation, or natural resources areas (e.g., in policy, finance, and economic analysis) and program implementation.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examinations, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
