**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Ground Operations, The Manage, Aviation Safety Compliance and Enforcement’s primary role is to ensure their airside operation team of ASO-Aviation Safety Officers is taking appropriate actions to ensure a proactive approach to aviation safety. To accomplish this, the Manager will ensure participate in both internal and external Safety Management System programs and proactively update their team with any program including but not limited to Airport Traffic Directives, as well as Construction, Security, Emergency Response and Safety initiatives.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Develop and amend operational response plans as they relate to both emergency and day to day operational requirements
- Investigate and analyze events and reports to ensure correct and coordinated response
- Research best practices at other airports of similar size to provide improvements or efficiency of the ASO teams
- Ensure Airside Safety and Security Compliance
- AVOP compliance/verification, program monitoring, education and awareness program development
- Lead people by providing coaching, guidance and development by providing meaningful feedback for personal and career growth
- Drive individual accountabilities to implement various programs related to the SMS, incident response, information gathering/investigation and reporting as well as the People and Planes initiatives
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and implementation of the AVOP program is carried out within the routine developed for the ASO’s and their work plans
- Recommend improvements to the AVOP program
- Collaborate with the Ground Handling Program Team to develop two-way communication and support new and innovative initiatives
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all service providers of aircraft handling and many contracted services that have impact on the day-to-day operation of the airside
- Develop and monitor annual budget and business plan aligned to the Corporate Strategic Plan

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma or a combination of education and relevant experience
- 5 years of experience in a management role and capacity
- 3 + years people leader experience in a unionized environment preferred
- Obtain and retain a D-AVOP
- Obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Aviation safety and security regulations and operations as it relates to airside operations
- Ability to work with MS Office
- Ability to research and analyze through various GTAA established software systems including CAD, Genetec, Tableau

The GTAA is a federally regulated private sector. The Government of Canada has suspended mandatory vaccination requirement for federally regulated transportation sector workers. The GTAA continues to monitor government and health developments relating to COVID -19 and may re-introduce the Vaccination and proof of Vaccination requirements in the Policy at any time.
